Son used them for track season. Did the trick... a little bulky, but stayed flexible to use on shins without feeling/looking like 2 bricks were strapped onto his shins.

I ordered these to soothe a shon splint I've been dealing with from increased training. I loved the fact it came with straps so I wouldn't have to worry about the ice pack moving around. These packs are cold enough to soothe the sore location but not cold enough to give that cool burn sensation. The straps work wonderfully. Now the size is shorter than anticipated so only half of my shin gets covered but since the pain is confined to one location it's not too big of an issue for you. For those worried about covering the whole shine: size up. I'm 5'04" and ordered the smaller size for reference.
