3M2090 ScotchBlue Painters Tape - 0.25 in. (W) x 180 ft. (L) Masking Tape Roll for Medium Adhesion. Painting Wall Preparation

I needed narrow strips to tape off sections prior to spray painting. I thought I would have to cut the standard blue tape and knew my lines wouldn't be perfectly straight unless I got out the self-healing mat and used a straight edge and razor knife. Those items are currently somewhat buried in my "craft room" that has become more of a "crap room". As you can probably imagine, I was delighted to find that the narrow tapes could be purchased! It saved me a day of excavation- one which had the potential to cause an avalanche of epic proportions.

I used this on a canvas with acrylic paint, and it did a good job of keeping the paint from bleeding. I ordered three, and two of them were okay, but the other one was a little bit wonky, making it hard to put down a straight line, but that's not a problem since I got a replacement. I like that I could pull on it to get a straight line without it losing shape. Would recommend.

I was so glad to find narrow widths of this tape. I use it to mask off areas for oil paintings. It works best if you mask over a primed area and then do another coat of primer over the seam of the tape. That seals it against leakage. This tape doesn't stop leaks as well as frog tape, but it works for my purposes. It also can tear fragile paper if not careful. Long ago, I bought some white tape that felt like paper. I think I got it at Home Depot. It was the very best for masking areas on a paper surface for painting. Even the most fragile paper was undamaged by the tape and it sealed well if primed over first. Can't find that tape anymore. If anyone knows where to get it, please comment below my review. Thanks.

First roll I bought from this seller was great, I used all of it. I actually ran out half way through masking off a painting. So I bought a second roll but it came warped, I didn't think it would affect the performance though since the tape still stuck. Once I started painting over it the tape from the new roll started buckling and lifting off the canvas but the older tape was just fine. So I issued an exchange and the new roll came and looks warped just like the second roll. I don't know why changed, maybe their storagebarea is too damp. But I won't be rolling the dice on this roll, it takes far too long to mask off my paintings just to have the tape fail. Going to have to try a new brand I guess.

Super happy with this tape. I looked everywhere locally for painters tape with a width this small and could not find it anywhere. Eventually I looked on amazon and found this. Used it for a painting I did on canvas and it worked great. Little bit of run underneath, but I am pretty sure that was my own fault for rushing a bit. Overall though, definitely a good buy at a good price. Really saved the day because I really didn't feel like having to cut down or split wider tape to get the 0.25" I needed. Only con was that it did not come within the time it was supposed to but once I contacted amazon and let them know about that, they resent it and it came the next day!

Did just what I needed. Taped off rough plastered wall for geometric painting. Lines held crisper than expected (expectations lowered due to the rough nature of what it was taped to). I was very surprised more than a month and a half later when I took the tape off (after 5+ coats of paint in most areas) how easily and cleanly it released. (My photo shows green tape, also scotch brand I purchased at the automotive store, I finished with the blue variety and both worked equally as well) I should have bought all blue and saved some money! Tape came super fast.
