The Magical Tree: A Children's Book Inspired by Gustav Klimt (Children's Books Inspired by Famous Artworks)

I am an art teacher at an elementary school and I bought this as a way to introduce the children to the artist. And although the book is beautiful, it is not a story that the kids followed easily. A good introduction to be able to have them do a related art project, but it did not keep my students interested.

I purchased this book for intros to art lessons about Gustav Klimt. The book does not disappoint with rich imagery, beautiful quality print and color saturation. Here is what I found extremely frustrating - the story has nothing to do with the artist or his work. To make it even more insulting, the story setting is nowhere near Austria... which is where the artist is from. If you are seeking a meaningful book to introduce art lessons, I would skip this one.

As an art historian I love to see children's books that take as much care in teaching visual history as it does to tell an entertaining story. The illustrations were spot on in Klimt inspiration printed on lush, glossy paper. I hope this one is widely stocked on museum store bookshelves.

We're a family of artists and musicians, great fans of Klimmt, so wonderful present for my new grandson. We read a lot of digital books but this one is a gift for a baby/child to hold on your lap to look at, discover the colors and patterns and see "in person". Beautiful colors and printing, no bad smell. Should be a great inspiration!

I bought this as a teaching tool and some illustrations are not suitable for a public education situation.

This is just a gorgeous book, really in the spirit of Gustav Klimt and beautiful story. I kind of wish there was a miniature pocket version because this is a really big book.

This book helps children discover the way towards family. Excellent artwork. That is why I bought it for my Art class.

Thus is one of the most beautiful books! And an enjoyable new fairytale.
