Dorman 924-725 Ignition Lock Cylinder Compatible with Select Models

I had an issue on my 2004 Silverado with the key switch. Was easy to replace it with this one. It works perfectly and although not an issue for me, my old key also fits perfectly into the new switch despite the key having a very different cut. It seems any key that fits into this switch will turn the car on. I doubt anyone will be interested in stealing my old Chevy but if you’ve got a nice car, this is not the most secure switch.

It fit my vehicle

The seller sent the item in a very timely fashion and that was good.The item was easy to install and does work. On my lock the keys did not slide in and out of the cylinder very easily, the keys have very sharp points as seen in the pictures, filed them down just a little then used sandpaper on the sides of the key cuts to smooth that out. Now the keys are smoother and slide in and out of the cylinder a little easier.if I had to order another one, well.

The cylinder fits perfectly. However, the keys had sharp edges on the cut, and I had to smooth them down with a Dremel tool. Works fine now.

I had parked my vehicle in our garage. I decided to go shopping and discovered that I could not turn the key. So what do you do when you have a 20 year old vehicle parked in the garage can cannot move it? I discussed the problem with a mechanic friend of mine and he told me it was likely the lock cylinder and he described how to replace it. I also searched the net for videos and found them to be helpful as well. So, a long story short, I replaced the cylinder, turned the key, put the vehicle in reverse and have my garage back.

we had no problems- easy to install, arrived quick, etc. The only caution is make sure it has all the same features- acc. pos. or not, blah blah. We had a time re-installing the column covers also- be careful to note how it comes apart, etc. Ours just unsnapped but several slots/ clips have to line up exactly to re-install

Would recommend if u need to switch out key if u lots the original key but besides that key stock key as buying this key set u will have to program it to ur cpu computer.

Installed this on my 2005 Chevy Silverado after it was stolen. Has worked great for the last 6 months with no issues. Thanks
