A beautiful "must have" book for anyone interested in making silver jewellery. Bought this book as I am missing my jewellery making class, due to the lockdowns and am so glad I did. Packed with useful hints and troubleshooting tips, this book takes you step by step through 7 impressive projects aimed at the beginner but will inspire anyone interested in making jewellery. I know I shall be using this book for years to come while I build up my skills.

This book, if followed through the projects, will give a beginner a good basis for building confidence, beyond the satisfaction of making your own jewellery. But! It lacks polishing techniques. Every stage of jewellery making can be done different ways, pretty much, and how you do a stage will dictate the finishing product. So, if you want to try to make your own jewellery, this book will offer you that. What it won't do is offer choices, or discuss thoroughly the techniques used. But as it stands, a pretty good starting point.I got the book for my granddaughter who wants to make jewellery and I didn't want to start out by over explaining things - as I'm sure to- at the beginning. It kept us both on track and taught her basic skills.

This is a book which is perfect for a beginner, and someone with some experience, with projects which increase in difficulty through the book, according to the skills you have achieved in the previous project. It is a very logical, clearly illustrated guide to making silver jewellery . Illustrations are both drawings and photos, which are very good quality, and each stage of making is demonstrated in progressive steps. This book shows the course I myself have followed with Tutor and Author Janet Richardson, and it is a brilliant one. Handy hints and tips guide you at each stage, along with problem solving guides. Tools and materials are outlined in terms of what you will need, how to understand what you need to buy, and how to use and care for them. I’ve bought it to use as a reference guide, and to use with my students.

This is a great book full of advice on how to create some lovely silver jewellery projects at home. It details the tools you will need and the techniques can be used on the suggested projects and there are ideas for progression which can be adapted for your own projects once you have mastered the core skills. I particularly like the troubleshooting tips with photographs showing why things may go wrong - especially when you are a beginner at soldering! There are also useful tables at the back with wire gauges and ring size conversions.

I am so pleased I purchased this book. The book is well written with easy to follow instructions for each project and lots of helpful tips and tricks to help as you work through the book. Each project will enhance your skills and it is almost like having a tutor working along side you. I own several jewellery making books but this book is the one I can see myself referring back to time and time again.
