This is a useful book
I enjoyed reading this book and will be more empathetic and a better listener for reading it. Some might find it a bit repetitive but I liked the writing style, summarising and consolidating things regularly.

Short but Straight to the Point
The book is 184 pages on the Kindle, but makes very good use of each page and chapter. It talks a lot about empathy and validation, which are two subtly different things. I noticed I do a lot of what's in the book naturally, but I have also picked up some very good new tricks to help me have better conversations skills and better relationships.

Great read
I work in a job that involves listening and validating individuals thoughts and empathy. This book was a really good read and I feel I have learnt a lot. Thanks

Highly recommended
I’ve read quite a few books about listening and this is one of the best. Really clearly laid out and written (I love the summaries for each chapter), with simple yet absolutely critical information that progresses and isn’t overly repeated.Easy to read but without being too basic.I’m gradually improving my listening skills and this book has helped clarify and inspire.Thank you Patrick!

Can't see what all the praise is about, it's very underwhelming
Full of platitudes and actually harmful at times. Some of the suggestions disguised as empathy can be in fact heard as attempts at domination. Not to mention the terrible editing. The paperback is laid out like a word document, complete with page numbers in the middle and spaced out 'justified' chapter titles. I wish I could get my money back

Everyone should read this!
I knew I had a problem with listening and validating people and this book has given me clarity. It is very practical and demonstrates how you can make people feel validated and listened to even if you disagree with their views or experiences. Also, describes what happens to people as they grow up when they don't feel listened or validated as children.
