I bought this book for my thesis, this book changed my life regarding how I see 'fairy tales'. I think everyone should read this book from tolkien, and after you read it you will understand how magical his works were. I truly recommend it!

Arrived promptly, a very lovely collection of some of Tolkien's less well-known compositions. I would strongly recommend any Tolkien fans to read the short story Leaf by Niggle, to get an idea of the epic agony behind his creative process.

Anni fa comprai la versione italiana di questo libro "Albero e Foglia", edito dalla Bompiani. Ho voluto comprare la presente versione in lingua originale per regalarla alla mia ragazza, ma la consiglierei a chiunque volesse leggere le opere in lingua originale e a chi piacciono le fiabe, tema al quale Tolkien si è dedicato per tutta la vita. "Tree and Lief" contiene non solo il saggio "Sulle Fiabe", ma anche "Foglia di Niggle", probabilmente uno dei migliori racconti che abbia mai scritto Tolkien.
