First things first, this is all around better than Amerous' other 15 inch magnetic chess set. I bought that product twice and on both occasions they came with orange stained white tiles and alignment issues, and so I returned both and tried out this set. This one, on the other hand, didn't have those issues. That said, here's some pros and cons to getting this set...Pros:- Pieces will (for the most part) stay on the board when moving it around- Alignment is only slightly off, which wasn't nearly enough to be an issue compared to other boards- The pieces look very personalized (which will also be a con discussed in a moment)- The design of the board is clean and simple- Foam slots for storage are well done- An extra set of queens is nice but obviously kinda expected on modern boardsCons:- The pieces are not perfectly painted. Some pieces have a darker coating compared to others, and some are not well cut. For example, my brown rooks have a top portion that was grounded down with a tool (leaving 3 layers of indented rings) but not sanded down to get rid of the tool markings. I found this was a good tradeoff to having alignment issues other boards like these tend to have.- The board is only mildly magnetic. If you put the board on its side, most of the pieces will slide off. As I said though, it does stay easily if you're just moving it from place to place.- Made in China, which can be a significant con to a lot of people nowadays.Conclusion:If you're looking for a board just to get into chess, I'd recommend this product, because honestly it's a fairly good size and quality for the price. However, for those that want a good-looking and magnetic board, I'd recommend looking at non-Amazon sites (e.g. chesshouse.com) for chess boards. It should be noted, this is probably the best wooden board on Amazon, but other sites will have board with stronger magnets, better quality pieces, and generally higher quality boards. However, it may cost you 20 bucks more to do so, and it may require a little patience in waiting for them to be in stock. With that in mind, you can decide if the tradeoff is worth it. I chose to stick with mine for now.

My wife and I love to play chess and I have a custom board made for her birthday last year but it is much too bug for us to play in bed, so I thought a small magnetic board that stored easily in our night stand would be a great thing to have.I spent a long time looking for this board and I really wanted one that was made by a smaller company and preferably made by someone here in the US. But this board for some reason, caught my eye and I went for it.It’s of wonderful quality. The magnets works perfectly and even allow you to store your captured pieces around the boarder of the playing space, still attached with the magnet. The pieces are a little lighter than I expected. I thought with the magnets in them, they would definitely have more weight to them, but that’s nots a big issue.The storage compartment is great and fit the pieces nice and tightly. I don’t see them ever falling out during travel. The board also comes in a beautiful box and when I presented it to my wife as a gift, it looked wonderful.I think anyone would be happy with this set!

It's not a bad set, but I'm sick of giving money to China without knowing it. Amazon needs to be better about identifying American made products.
