These work very well and they look quite nice also. I happen to like the cast iron look so they are perfect for me.

Love these , I would not say they are heavy duty , but they are sturdy enough , I have them on my mantle shelf and they are holding up some bigger books perfectly! They look great , not tacky .

Some reviewers have said they are not "heavy duty", as described: I agree with this comment, but they are sturdy enough for me. I knocked off a star because of this slightly misleading description. Be aware that when you unwrap the product, one bookend nests inside the other so it only looks like one bookend. I didn't realise this until I had complained about only receiving one and had paid out for a duplicate order. I can see from other reviews on here that I wasn't the only one to be mistaken like this.
