The bottle is dishwasher-safe, but I've also found that it's easy to hand-wash. I simply fill the bottle with warm water and a little bit of soap, then shake it to clean the inside. The bite valve is also easy to clean - I just remove it from the bottle and rinse it under warm water. Overall, I'm very happy with the CamelBak Eddy Free Water Bottle. I've yet to hear of any leaks and with the way my teenagers throw them around, I can definitely say they are robust! They aren't indestructible but they take a fair amount of abuse and use. Fab bottle. The only brand I have found that doesn't leak. Easy to clean and great capacity. Perfect for school. I've had other smaller camelbak bottles that have lasted for years so hopefully this one is just as durable.
