Nice player for independent kids, but there are quality issues
I grew up listening to stories on my vinyl pickup, and I have wonderful memories from that time. This player is a great way for my little one to enjoy carefully curated content like stories, music, educational cards, kids radio stations or podcasts in the same way, and at the same time to feel independent because it allows them to pick their favorite cards to listen to.The card store is constantly updated, and you also have the possibility to create your own content on blank cards, be it read by you or from other web resources like podcasts, mp3 format files. You can also rewrite them as many times as you want according to your child’s development and interests.Another wonderful feature is the pixel display which allows kids to make the connection between content and images on the display (e.g. my first 100 words in 5 different languages card, music cards). My little one isn’t yet 36 mo (currently 21), but we had absolutely no issues with controlling the entire set of commands on the Yoto player. We now take it with us on long drives and it makes it easier for all of us.Improvements I feel could make it better: 1) the battery life could be better - it is about 5 hrs; 2) charging time could be shorter; 3) the sound quality could be better.Edit Dec 25, 2020:As much as we enjoy the content and features of the player, I need to add we are having issues with our third box now, waiting currently for it to be replaced too. The first one had battery issues, the second one had functionality issues, and the third one again has battery issues (no longer charging/holding a charge). It currently takes customer service a long time to follow up with the requests, so we haven’t been able to enjoy our player for more than a month... is it bad luck or quality control issues on their production site in China?

Fun, Engaging, Educational, High Quality and Great Design.
As soon as my children received the Yoto player they were into it 100%. They first follow the extremely well-done audio card tutorial and 7 min later they were listening to stories, exploring sounds, ASKING QUESTIONS! as well as listening to Yoto radio (Kids content radio station, one of many they have).Meanwhile, I was trying to understand EVERYTHING the Yoto world has to offer, it is a lot of kids appropriate content you can access from their app. I love that the app is intended for parents and if my kids love a specific radio or podcast I can "pair it" with a Yoto blank card so they can keep interacting with the Yoto player in a sort of analog way, (phone/tablet free). My main recommendation is to explore the Yoto app and give yourself a bit of time to understand everything you and your kids can do with the Yoto player, it has more things and uses that you might have thought. The design and quality of this little guy are extremely high and makes it look great in our kid's room as well as in our living room.I love that there is an always-on display with a clock and a picture of the time of the day (day and night), this is great for sleep training a 3 years toddler. After a week of use, the kids come back to it on daily basis, that is a huge plus for me since as a parent many of these devices only keep the attention of my kids for 1 or 2 times, not the case with Yoto. Here how we use it in our daily routine today, I can see this little guy will expand into other daily routines but here what we do with it so far:- When we are getting ready for school we listen to Yoto Daily, the little ones take turns to pick the right button to play it (Daily 5-7min podcast for kids, educational and fun). After that, we play Yoto radio until we leave for school.- When the children are back from school they take turns and while one of them is taking a shower the other one listens to a story or two.- At bedtime we play some soft sleep sounds (they have a bunch to choose from) and use the Yoto player in the night light mode. I love I am able to control the player from my phone app and I don't need to go into the room of the kids to put the volume down.I will update this review in about 45 days to see where we are at.

Don’t buy this piece of junk
This is a ridiculous product that is also expensive and not intuitive to use. They send you a box which is essentially a speaker. The speaker itself is expensive, but then they do a razor/razor blade model where each story is $10-$15. What???I’m going to try and return it.

Amazing device for my toddler
This is an amazing device! We purchased a Jooki and wanted to use it for audiobooks, but it was cumbersome and difficult to setup. My three year old loves this little device.1. He can control what story he listens to via the cards2. I can control it from my phone if he falls asleep in his room3. It has a child friendly radio station4. It also has this “Yoto Daily” station that acts like a kids podcast/new channel and he listens every single day5. It also acts as a clock in his room6. We also use one “unintended feature” in that the moon will display at bedtime and a sun at wake up time. This is a great indicator for him to know when to come out of his room if he wakes up before us.My only “complaint” is the card availability in US is limited compared to UK Yoto store. Please make more cards available! For any parent on the fence, go ahead and purchase the device. You won’t regret it!

Perfect modern radio
My daughter is still a bit young to understand/enjoy all of the features but I love this thing! The radio and podcast features are great, most of the settings are totally customizable, and the app is easy to use. I was worried my 2 year old would struggle with the cards but she figured it out right away. They work even when not fully inserted, or put in backwards/upside down, which is perfect. The first 100 words card is adorable with all the little pictures, and my kiddo also loves the crackling fire one. I can see this being useful for many years to come, and I love that it functions as a clock and bluetooth speaker as well.

Very Impressed!
Such a neat toy! I bought this player for my son and I am obsessed. First, the packaging is very well thought out. Every card comes in its own sleeve that has a peel-off strip on the back so they can be stuck to easy-to-reach surfaces. The box it comes in is durable and can be used to store the Yoto when it goes on trips. Any packaging that I discarded was either recyclable or biodegradable and could be composted; love that. Secondly, I popped in the Welcome Card that comes with the machine and was impressed by how easy the directions were to follow. I downloaded all of my Yoto cards (I purchased The Gigantuous Collection by Roahl Dahl) and was super impressed by the pixelated images that appeared for each card. The picture quality is sharper than I expected it to be and my kid excitedly kept telling me what the image was, even though I was quickly popping each card in and out just so they could download. While we waited for the cards to download, I switched over to Yoto’s free “radio station” and we listened and danced to several kid’s songs. Suffice to say, my kid loves it. When the system isn’t in use, it sits docked on his bedside table, acting as a clock. He currently has a different nightlight in his room, so he doesn’t make use of it in that setting, but when he’s playing in his tent or a fort, he likes to turn it on, so that is a nice feature.
