You Can’t Lead Without Vision
Leading with Vision highlights the inextricable link between leadership and vision. A compelling vision is essential for organizations to thrive in a world that is increasingly VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous). Unfortunately, research shows that while creating a compelling vision is a top need for leaders, it’s lacking as a competency in many aspiring leaders.“To lead with vision, leaders must display courage, provide clarity, shape and enhance the culture, and energize and connect with people at all levels, both inside and outside the company,” the authors contend. They offer practical guidance in each of these areas, along with numerous examples of leaders who have successfully developed and implemented these skills in their organizations.Whether you are struggling to create a compelling vision for your team or organization, or it’s time for a refresh, Leading with Vision is a worthwhile read. Use it as a tool to guide executive level conversations and enhance alignment among your team. The book has proven to be a valuable resource in my leadership coaching and consulting work.

Putting Vision Into Action
This book is an incredible selection of real life stories that demonstrate the power of vision and clarity of vision. Simon Vetter was able to collaborate with some powerful leaders on their personal journeys in order to provide a wide variety of insight into this very simple, yet often understood, concept of vision. Hats off to Simon and his associates on a job well done. I strongly recommend the book!

Must read book!
Leading with Vision is a book for all executives, leaders and aspiring leaders! This really is a superb go-to book on how to create and communicate a compelling vision for buy-in and support organization-wide. Interestingly, I have found many executives and leaders to be vision-challenged so to speak. This book will take what can be perceived as a nebulous exercise for those practical minded leaders and provide an essential framework to develop and deliver a compelling vision. I have already started recommending this must read book to clients.

Taking Stairs Two at a Time
"When was the last time you took stairs two at a time?" That question has stuck with me ever since I read the book! Finding your own passion is hard enough, but creating a vision and getting everyone rallied around that vision is truly a 21st century leader's biggest challenge. This book provides fantastic memorable stories of great leaders who led with vision vs. dashboards and spreadsheets. It has changed the way I communicate everything.

Another book on leadership and vision – but with a welcome difference
Another book on leadership and vision – but with a welcome difference. ‘Leading with Vision’ does, as you might expect, spend much of the book thinking about leadership and vision, but the refreshing difference in this text is that it makes a conscious effort to think about the cultural differences between generations (X, Y, Baby Boomers etc). Of course there are many other books available on generational culture difference but this is a very easy to read one-stop shop bringing together leadership, vision and (what the authors call) the ‘disconnect’ often found between managers and the workforce. Among the many themes that are explored two in particular summarise both the book and the nature of Generation Y, namely: the need for both connectedness and a catching vision. The authors explore the importance of relational working, inspiring vision, excitement and enthusiasm for the company’s product and ethos, and the valuing of story, participation and transactional leadership.Continuing the theme of the book, each chapter provides lots of anecdotal sketches as well as the theory and practice behind the examples. The chapters end with ‘takeaways’ which are helpful, concise summaries of what has been written earlier. Whilst the book is more than the sum of these ‘takeaways’, nevertheless the book is overly wordy – not in a complicated way – but the conversational style does ensure that what might take a paragraph is stretched to fit a page.On the whole the book is engaging and practical and leaves the reader wanting to try out some of the thoughts and practices. If you overlook the consistently cheesy corporate-speak sub-headings and pick out the key points, this book takes you on a gentle but interesting journey to its conclusion of ‘a blueprint for creating a compelling vision’. I am not sure there is anything new in this blueprint but the motivation increases as you read so that you feel empowered to give it a go.

A significant and challenging book that should be read by every leader today
I read a lot of leadership books, most of which have a unique selling point or at least a clearly defined purpose. Many of these add something to my mental process but don't draw me back to revisit them. This book is quite different, it s written with some angst and urgency having been the result of direct research and a report that highlighted a real need in leadership today. This is not written because the authors have a cool 3 day course that they want to promote, but rather because they are professionals, have done research and want to offer solutions to real needs. I read this not because it was a cute book with interesting reviews, but because this is a real game changer, whether you are in business, education, health or the third sector. This book will particularly challenge you as a leader, making you ask yourself whether you are delivering what s expected of you and to some degree minimising the size of your own ego. This book offers a real and achievable strategy to becoming what your organisation needs, and you will not find any pages here that are just 'fillers'. With lots of emphasis on real vision, may I suggest that this is a book you will come back to again and again. This may become 'the one minute manager' of its day.

Leading with Vision
There are a lot of books on the market about leadership and so it is interesting to compare them and see which have anything new to offer. Certainly, businesses face uncertain times and so the authors suggest a new, more thoughtful and more relevant approach is needed. The authors have certainly done a lot of research for this book and they include a lot of real life stories, and examples, to illustrate their points about what makes a good leader. How do leaders create a compelling vision and then engage, and inspire, others. Each chapter ends with a list of bullet points – “Takeaways” which give you advice on how you can use the information in each section in the workplace. So, for example, Chapter 5 is about how to “Embody Courage,” and some of the ‘Takeaways” are suggestions such as “When was the last time you used a personal story to get your message across?” or “Do you role-model the behaviours you want to see in others?” This is a very readable, and interesting, book, with lots of interesting suggestions of how to be a visionary leader and how to implement the ideas within the book to improve your leadership style.
