Melts Grease; No More Rashes; Top Value
After my dermatologist cultured a rash, I was diagnosed with contact dermatitis, triggered by "fragrance," "parfum," and other lab-derived additives found in most skincare and household products. Better Life is now my go-to unscented dish soap: With no sulfates or parabens, it uses plant-derived cleaning agents (coconut and corn-sourced) to cut through pot and pan grease, oil, and caked-on food -- arguably even more effectively than the chemical baths of yesteryear. It also reduces elbow grease: While at times I'd sink-soak pots and pans overnight, I'm now empowered to hand-wash them right away with plates and dishes. Thanks to its Aloe and Vitamin E, my sensitive skin is left soft and supple. At 22 ounces, this is also a lot of elite dish soap, and at a great low-cost value. - (Was this review of use? was fine then turned into a smelly mess weeks later
Okay, I don't know what happened with this product. Was using it for a few weeks, it was ok, not the best at removing grease tbh. I love this brand's other products so thought this one would be great too. Anyway, a few weeks into using it, whenever I went near my sink I noticed a very bad smell. I thought maybe it was the garbage disposal, but a few days into this smell, I noticed it was coming from the dish soap! It smelled like rotten eggs. Really gross, and I have no idea why but this went into the garbage immediately.

Changed formula- goes cloudy and rancid
I'm unfortunately agreeing with the other reviews from the past 6mos or so: the formula has changed and it appears to no longer be stable. The soap goes cloudy within a few days of opening, and an "off smell" develops. Think rancid oil. Also got one bottle that was very dark yellow and smelled even worse. Have used this soap for years but the last five bottles I tried (including two replaced for free by cust service) were unusable. Company was sold to Bissell within the last year and I'm thinking something funky is going on with formula/s.

Insufficient preservatives; spoils very quickly
I purchased the 22 oz. size of the "unscented" version of Better Life dish soap *just* over a month ago. It did not appear to be counterfeit -- it was a transparent, yellow color, in apparently new, unused, undamaged packaging, purchased directly from Amazon. I was delighted to find something without irritating or potentially-sensitizing chemicals. Moreover, the smell was very faint and tolerable to me, despite my very severe MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities). It had no discernible odor beyond a faint smell (certainly no fragrances!). It cleaned well without drying my skin too much. It seemed wonderful.However.... after about a month, it became cloudy and an "off" smell developed -- kind of reminiscent of "wet dog" or some other musty odor (not like rancid oil). I did not dilute the dishsoap or add anything to it at all, and it sat in perfectly normal conditions. Further examination of the label suggests that there are no other preservatives besides tocopherol, which apparently isn't up to the task.I don't go through 22 oz. of dish soap that fast, and I'd be surprised if many people do. I'm annoyed that I *just* missed the return window, but it's not a huge loss, since it doesn't cost much. However, I can't recommend it to anyone until better preservatives are used. I realize it's hard to find preservatives that aren't sensitizing, noxious, or otherwise alarming (like phenoxyethanol or -zolinones), but I really hope this company finds something acceptable and effective. If they did, this would be an excellent product.

Easy on the skin, easy on filth.
The dish soap has little scent, no artificial colors, and nothing that might irritate the skin except foe the most sensitive individuals. My eczema is very sensitive to SLS and certain alcohols but this is easy on the skin. With that being said, it also does require a good bit of soap to accomplish the job. It clears grease for the most part but it has the same strength as unconcentrated dawn, so don't expect miracles with this. Also, the scent is a bit weird to say the least. It doesn't smell bad or good but slightly odd, maybe off-putting to some individuals. Overall, I would buy this again for the sake of my hands. It's easier than wearing gloves for me every time I need to wash the dishes.
