## Description

Hyaluronic acid, or HA, is naturally occurring polymer found in every tissue of the body. It is particularly concentrated in the skin and in synovial fluid but decreases with aging. Many sources of HA consist of large molecular weight compounds that are too large to be absorbed in the intestines. HyaMax sodium hyaluronate provides low molecular weight source of hyaluronic acid produced through fermentation. In pharmacokinetic study conducted in animals, orally administered HyaMax hyaluronic acid was incorporated into joints, connective tissue and skin, with particular affinity for cartilaginous joints. HA functions include attracting and retaining water in the extracellular matrix of tissues. For skin cells, this is essential for proper cell to cell communication, hydration, nutrient delivery, and waste and toxin elimination. It also appears to support the skin by promoting healthy turnover and renewal of keratinocytes. For joints, HA is especially supportive of healthy lubrication and shock absorption. Furthermore, in vitro studies indicate that HA modulates prostaglandin production, providing additional support for joint function.

**Q: what about the reviewer's  comment about the rooster's comb's?**
A: These are not made from rooster's combs but from bacterial fermentation. Some HA is made from rooster combs, which contain high amounts of it, but this product is not.

**Q: Is this supplement a third party tested?**
A: Pure Encapsulations has a rigorous testing policy. Each raw material is tested for identity, potency, a complete panel of solvent residues (~32 compounds), heavy metals (lead, mercury, arsenic and cadmium) and microbial contaminants. All plant-derived compounds/herbal extracts are also tested for a complete panel of pesticide residues (~70 compounds). This testing is done through high-quality, third-party independent laboratories, such as Eurofins and Covance, that are considered the gold standard in the industry. Pure Encapsulations is NSF-certified. NSF is an outside organization that inspects products and the manufacturing facility for compliance with the FDA GMPs. Pure Encapsulations’ products, as well as their manufacturing and testing procedures, are thoroughly inspected twice annually by the NSF to ensure compliance with the FDA GMP's.

**Q: Is this derived/fermentated  from mushroomms, some kind of plant, or sodium?**
A: Pure Encapsulations uses HyaMax Hyaluronic Acid that is sourced from microbial fermentation. The raw material fermentation process is proprietary. Pure Encapsulations receives confirmation that it is free from soy, wheat, gluten, dairy, corn, fish, shellfish, coconut, tree nuts, and peanuts. In addition, it is free from mushrooms.

**Q: Is this or any of your products tested on animals?**
A: Pure Encapsulations does not test our products on animals, and they do not source raw materials that have been tested on animals. Pure Encapsulations Hyaluronic Acid is not tested on animals.
