i am new to stamp collecting.  do i need to purchase stamp hinges to use this album?

If you're starting out with a very cheap kid's album and you bought an assortment of 3,000 cancelled stamps for $10 (or whatever) then the stamps basically have no value and hinges are fine.  They're what young kids typically use.  But if you're actually buying stamps that you treasure and want to preserve and that you hope will have value some day, then NEVER use hinges -- they destroy the value of a stamp.  Stamp mounts are more expensive than hinges, but they protect the stamps and preserve their value.  I've joked that probably half my stamps aren't worth as much as the mounts that are holding them, but it's probably true.  If you're AT ALL serious about your stamps -- even if you're just buying commemoratives at the post office -- never ever use hinges.

How many stamps will this hold ???

Each page has 6 slots that would hold up 3 stamps per slot, (depending on the size of the stamps),  on the front and back of the page for a maximum of 36 stamps per page.. The album came with 32 pages counting the front and back as 1 page each, so the maximum number of stamps, (depending on the size of each stamp), would be 576.

Will this work for mini pages of stamps? My husband collects stamps, but he buys the mini sheet of the stamps. thank you

Hello Jane,I'm sure that your husband can use this album with his mini pages, there are 6 stripes in each page, I think 1" high, enough to hold them.  However, perhaps he would show only few mini pages in each sheet, due the bigger size of them.    My dad started our collection more than 60 years ago, and nowadays we have many stamps worldwide, FDC and Souvenir sheets.
