Interesting concept
Dennis keeps the story moving at a brisk pace without it becoming too confusing. Focus on world building rather than detail or complex character interaction. An enjoyable ride left me wanting more.

Long Earth meets Swiss Family Robinson.
Having listen to the story as read by the always sublime Ray Porter multiple times, and with a sequel upcoming, I finally had to read it.This is a brilliant book from the author of the Bobiverse series, while not an original premise as it does seem to take a lot from Pratchett and Baxter's Long Earth series, it is a very enjoyable story, full of the author's wit and signature lines.I look forward to the sequel.

The apocalypse is an engineering challenge
This is a fairly breezy and entertaining read which is a bit of a mismatch for the apocalypse (courtesy of a Yellowstone super volcano) - which turns out to be just a premise for some neat heist/engineering hijinks. Packs the emotional punch of a unexpectedly disappointing car maintenance report.

Dennis E Taylor continues to impress
Outland is an enjoyable casual read. It's not going to challenge you mentally, there's no heavy science or politics, it's just a pleasant Sunday afternoon novel that's easy to digest and hard to put down.

A good read
An enjoyable read. It reminds me of Steven Goulds Wild Side (in itself a good thing as I enjoyed that book very much), so if you read and enjoyed that you will like this one. Similar group of characters, same sort of alternate earth, even the same idea for financing things, but goes off in a very different direction and that works well. A bit more action driven and faster than Wild Side. Would like to see more of this type of story, from either author or others.

Enjoyable book, well written.
I've enjoyed all of Dennis E Taylor's books. His characters are enjoyable and the story is well crafted. The main reason I like this author is because his stories have that element of believability. Look forward to reading more of his work in future.

Love Love Love this book!
I found this book on a recommendation page when I was looking for any books written along the line of the canceled TV show Terra Nova. I am so happy I ran across that page because this book is fantastic. Very imaginative and extremely well written. Characters are well fleshed out with back stories and descriptions. The science is not so technical that I couldn’t grasp the concepts. Above all, it’s just such a great story that captures your imagination. Great famous movie line references by a couple of quirky lovable characters. A great fun read.

Fun read, Great Ideas, and thankfully a second book is out.
Well worth picking up if you are a fan of Dennis's Bobverse. Easy to read, great pacing very fun scifi ideas in this book.

parallel worlds, which students access via a portal and thus save humanity (maybe?)
I already found the idea of the portal very interesting. The author has created two exciting books with interesting characters and plot twists from this idea. I am not a native English speaker, but for me the language was on a good level.I was excellently entertained and almost couldn't put the two books down. Within two weeks both were through. I would be very happy if the author would continue the series.

A thrilling read
Really great premise of super volcano catastrophe and a fun, thrilling novel. Paints a bleak picture of the post apocalyptic earth!

I wish there were a part two
A really fun and fast paced read. I’m not going to go on and on about character development..but there certainly are a lot of interesting characters. My only regret is that this must have been written before there were 3D printers. Bill would have loved them. Read it!
