I should preface this review with an admission that I did not purchase these drapes for the usual purpose, which is to block sunlight. I didn't buy these for a window at all, but to block the light from a sink vanity. My husband and I bought a house that was built in the 80s, and it seems to me that 80s contractors believed "open concept" was a great idea in the main bedroom and en suite. For some reason, the vanity and sink for the en suite bathroom is in the middle of the closet and the room with the toilet and shower/tub. My husband gets up at 5:45 AM because he's a masochist, and I prefer to wake up naturally with the sun. But when he gets up to get ready, he turns on the vanity light which lights up the room and wakes me up. I'm not particularly please to be awake before the sun, it's not natural. As a short term solution, I took some light diffusing voiles and hung them from a tension rod across the opening. Aside from disguising the sight of the vanity itself, they didn't help with the light. So I bought these drapes at 96" in the lovely green. It says olive, I say these are too dark for olive, but as I have varying shades of green in the main bedroom, it isn't an issue.plus I love the color. The were initially a little shorter than my existing voiles, but that was due to being severely wrinkled from packaging. After I took my hand held travel steamer to them, the feel straight. They hang at the correct length post steam, and when my husband pulls them together in the morning, they do effectively block the light from the vanity. However, I did notice that when I was on the other side and the sun was filtering through the window in the bedroom that the sunlight DID show through the fabric from the other way. I don't know if these would be 100% effective at blocking sunlight to a blackout effect. I'm rating them 5 stars because: they are pretty, the fabric is soft, they were much heavier than I anticipated for the price, the color is lovely, and they have performed the office for which they were intended beautifully.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE CURTAINS! They are a game changer with darkening a room and making it warmer. I have extremely tall windows and they look perfect! They bring an elegance and warmth to my bedroom. Exactly what I was looking for. The color is spot on!

Very heavy weight drapes that provide significant insulating properties. The color is vibrant and soft to the touch. They do a great job in darkening a good. Classy look for a good price.

These curtains are more than what I expected the color is perfect the material great quality it definitely makes the space look luxurious. Value for money is definitely worth it.

The fabric is a lovely merlot color and has a velvet-like sheen. These are not see-through, but are a thin fabric. My old drapes were thick and heavy. The grommets are making it difficult to lay flat against the window trim, so they are not working to keep all the cold out. These would be better in a warmer climate or if they had a hemmed top to slide onto the curtain rod. They are very slippery on the curtain rod so I need to constantly readjust when closing them. The panels are much narrower than I expected, so I had to order double the amount to cover the windows.

These are beautiful, and are definitely room darkeners. A nice feature when the sun light is bright, and heat glares into the room. Heavy weighted. They slide easily on the rods, via grommets. Volume of fabric easily covers my windows. No oder noticed, the fit is perfect for our longer farmhouse windows.

As someone who is autistic and highly sensitive to sound and light, I can’t overstate how much these navy blue velvet, blackout curtains have improved the comfort of my space. I live in Texas, where the summer can be intense, and blackout curtains, aren’t a luxury – they’re a necessity. These help block out most of the sun, except for some light that shines through the top and side. They also help dampen the sound of traffic which comes through my window, which makes a huge difference when I’m overstimulated and just need quiet. When I open the box, I was immediately impressed with how heavy they were. The weight actually brought me comfort – they felt grounding. I had looked into cheaper ones from a local store, but the quality didn’t even compare. I’m really glad I paid a little more for these because they feel like they will last a lifetime. I ordered them to match my navy velvet mid-century couches and they are an absolute perfect match. They’ve transform my space into a calm, quiet chamber, where I can decompress and retreat when the world feels overwhelming. If you’re someone who experiences sensory overload or just values high-quality, beautiful curtains that do their job, I couldn’t recommend these more.
