Great, fun little scope for the money!
Arrived today (early!), got it just for fun, this is a great little scope, especially considering it sells for less than appetizers at even a moderately priced restaurant, let alone the first round of drinks! I bought it because I knew Celestron makes top-quality telescopes and optics, and I figured it might translate even to a low-end item like this, I was not disappointed, happy to say. First, the battery is AAA, easy to find, and the cover is held securely in place with a small screw. The switch feels like it will last more than 15 minutes, a rarity! The optics are just fine, and I really liked that the 60-120 power adjustment is through the full range, not just 60 or 120, let's you set it where it works best. The LED is nice and bright, and the scope stands on a flat surface very well. You do have to have whatever you are viewing close to the distance of the base, so it should work great with slides, but it could be a little problematic with things like certain plant products. Ahem! I'm a little surprised more haven't sold, maybe the Kids name puts people off. They should name it the Green Avenger, or maybe Death Noodle or something equally idiotic, I'm sure they would sell a million.

Simple, Effective, Fun.
it has a small size but provides a fun range of magnification, is easily focused, has a good light, and you can clearly look at any flat surface with microscopic magnification unlike a typical microscope. It has seemingly good design and quality, and for the price it is excellent as long as it lasts for a little while.Just a soft eyeglass pouch or case is all it needs for protective, clean storage.

Very hard to use expecially for kids, Carson MicroMini did the job perfectly!!
Very disappointed, Very hard to focus and use, sight glass is hard for a child and adult to look down through. Luckily I also bought 2 Carson MicroMini scopes for the adults.... the kids loved these ones, so easy to focus, they hold focus, so easy to see through the sight glass!! Seriously saved the weekend and have 2 kids curiosity levels finding anything and everything to look at!! Carson MicroMini 1/2 the price and much easier for kids to use by far!! I fell for the gimmicky packing.....Fail!! Celestron Kids gets an F!!

100% Amazing
I definitely wasn't expecting a lot from this, I almost thought it was just an over glorified magnifying glass, but it really is a microscope and a darn good one at that. For the money you'd be hard pressed to find anything better. I've had the time of my life examining all sorts of things at the microscopic level, and it seems the sky is the limit with this. It's very portable, easy to hold, easy to adjust, it's literally the most amazing thing I have bought and the best part is it didn't break the bank. It may be a beginner microscope but I think mainly it's just an ultra portable one; if you want something light and easy to deal with just to study different things this is great. Also, I just the other day realized that there are two ways to fine tune this, there is a zoom knob at the top, which I totally didn't notice at first, and a focus knob at the bottom. The bottom knob is amazing at getting all the fine details. Also, if you use it with the light a lot I realized it would kind of tire out my eyes a bit and I wished they would have added some sort of extra filter to tone down the brightness of the light but I realized an easy way to deal with that is to wear sunglasses.

Magnification to go!
This product was purchased for my 8 year old son. We found that he was able to use the microscope after a brief demonstration of the zoom and focus controls; both he and then spent hours looking at various objects at moderately high magnification.THE GOOD:+Easy to use. Only two controls (a zoom knob and a focus knob)+Great illumination is provided by a bright LED+Sturdy construction. This pocket microscope feels built to last.THE BAD:-None, really. The product performed as per expectations.THE MEH (GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE PURCHASING):~Given the level of magnification, it does not have a highly adjustable focal distance. You will need to have the viewed items either on a slide or within the plane of the end of the device. For three dimensional objects, this is best achieved by lifting the microscope slightly.

It is an ok product, for an adult, but...
It is not easy to use. Especially not for a child. It is really small and not easy to focus. It does have good magnification, when you figure it out. But i got it for a 5 and 7 year old and they are not able to use it without my help. It needs to have a hard light surface under the item you are looking at in order to see item. So taking it out into the "field" to look for things, as stated, does not work.

Too hard for kids to use
It’s a decent small microscope; for the low price I wasn’t expecting much but I’ve had good experiences with Celestron products. The first issue is the tiny Philips screw securing the battery compartment. It was impossible for me to reinsert it without tweezers and a reading glasses, and it appears unnecessary anyway since the compartment door snaps into place, so I took one star off. The other issue that cost 2 stars is that the minimum magnification of 60x is much too strong to be useful or fun for younger kids, and the very small field of view is too narrow. I’ll have fun with it, but I’m getting something less limiting for my grandkids..
