Ghost Ships of the Baltic Sea

Eerie and fascinating photographs.
I became aware of this book when it was featured in the 'Times' a few months ago.I added it to my wish list and then forgot about it.I happened to notice that the price had been reduced and went ahead and bought it.This is a very heavy, beautifully presented book of photographs documenting some of the wrecks laying at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.The quality of the imagery is simply incredible.Eerie, disturbing and yet strangely calming, the photographs are printed on thick , heavy paper. This book would have been a good buy at the original price. At the reduced price, it is an absolute steal.

Spectacular Shipwreck Photograpy and Text Descriptions!
This book can be read in an enjoyable manner: a few pages at a time or an entire chapter. Look at the photgraphs and then read the text to get a good understanding of the shipwreck. The text is useful and not superfluous. After setting it aside for a few days, I went back and had a second look--better the second time!

Spectacular
Incredibly vivid imagery beautifully presented. The writing is also moving, it comes from a place of deep knowledge but also respect for the courage and suffering of the people who lost their lives when these ships sank.

Fantastic book,like being there.
My title had to be brief, but I wanted to say that the photos in this book really give a sense of what diving on a wreck is like.I've never dived in the Baltic or to wrecks as deep as these, but looking at these photos I can feel the same sensations as when I do dive on a reasonably deep wreck.Even if you just like photography, the images of these incredibly preserved wrecks will delight you. Some books seem incredibly over priced, but this is certainly not one. I was amazed at the book for the price.

Beautiful Book
I bought this as a birthday present for a keen diving friend who has also lived close to the Baltic. He is absolutely delighted with it. Can't say more than that as I haven't read it myself but the pictures are stunning.

Weird, haunting and wonderful
I bought this after seeing a selection of images in the Sunday Times. A truly fascinating and wonderful book.I have bought it as a birthday present for a couple of friends. It is a great present as they don't have to read hundreds of pages.Just look at the images and read the mini histories.Highly recommended

Baltic Shipwrecks
I have sailed the Baltic Sea on numerous occasions and in all types of vessels - from P&O liners to submarines and dive support ships - but only once have I delved beneath the surface, and that was in search of a downed aircraft. Jonas Dahm and Carl Douglas on the other hand have explored numerous Baltic wrecks and photographed them in astonishing detail. My copy of their magnificent book reached me this morning and, quite frankly, it is without doubt, the most impressive and detailed work I have ever seen on the subject of shipwrecks. Onboard these sunken ships, time has frozen while the wrecks have become time capsules - haunting reminders of an often brutal drama.Highly recommended.

Fantastic Book
This is a beautiful big book for anyone who is interested in what lies on the bottom of the sea. Bought for elderly relation who used to skin dive.It contains the most remarkable pictures so clearly considering where they were taken. This book arrived well packed and in excellent condition.I would thoroughly recommend this book, just gorgeous.

Amazing photography punctuated with history
The large size of this book with full page photographs creates the perfect opportunity to dive deep into the Baltic and observe a snapshot of history that is rarely seen. Full-page photographs appear first, followed by the history (if known) of the shipwreck. The authors are respectful of the fact that all shipwrecks are the result of a tragedy. They honor the lives lost and the ship's features while telling its story.I bought this book as a gift for my father, and ended up reading most of it before I gave it to him. I might have to buy my own copy.
