Great stuff.
Ohsawa Genuine Mirin is my favourite when I can't order directly from a brewery. This is genuine Mirin, a sweet wine brewed from Rice and a kind of yeast, but like cooking wine it has had salt added. This allows it to be sold in grocery stores and over the Internet in States that control wine sales. In spite of the added salt, Ohsawa remains my go-to brand. It has an authentic flavour and usefulness in cooking that is way better than most other brands.

Fine quality product
I love this for Japanese dishes calling for mirin. It does not contain corn syrup, sugar, or other unwelcomed. Rather, it is traditionally brewed.

It took forever to find real mirin
Why did it take so long? Who knows? This has no added sugar and is made in Japan. It makes fantastic teriyaki sauce and I have also used it with braised Daikon radishes and is superb. If it has added sugar or is made in the US, run! Actually, any Asian food made in the US is not worth buying. If you are making Japanese food, ensure everything possible is from Japan. If you are making Thai food, ensure everything possible is from Thailand, etc, etc. I have about five different soy sauces from five different countries in my pantry, for example. It is worth the effort and cost. Yes, there are significant differences and no, there is nothing made in the US that can compare.I have ordered 4 bottles and none were leaking.Tip: It is not returnable, but that does not mean you cannot get a refund. I got a refund on other non-returnable items and all it took was a simple chat with a rep. Amazon has excellent customer service.

Some of the best Mirin I've bought.
So this stuff is pretty good. No issues on the flavor. My only fairly moderate gripe is the cork is pretty weak. At some point after weeks of owning this, when I went to use the mirin the cork split and cracked completely. Some particles of the cork even fell into the bottle. Making the cap entirely useless.Nonetheless, this is some damn good stuff besides that.

The Real McCoy!!!
This is the real thing! Fantastic umami & great for adding a sheen to your favorite dish. It's sweet but when added to shoyu & saké, it makes a great marinade.

Genuine mirin
Genuine mirin with no added sugar that you can buy in the US - nice!

Improper seal, broken cap/seal, and leaking
I bought 2 bottles and both caps are unsealed and broken. One of the bottles is leaking. It's ridiculous that you aren't allowed to return these items, especially when they are leaking and have broken caps.

Pricey but worth it!
Been using another organic mirin for yrs, but I was delighted to see Oshawa offers a mirin.. Again for yrs I have been using Oshawa Organic Shoyu again expensive but the quart lasts me almost a year because less is needed and I use it several times a week. My health is tops on my list so I try to buy the best.
