OSCAR THE OCTOPUS

The verses are nice but a 3 year old wasn’t too interested. The ending is a bit odd and doesn’t go with the rest of the rhymes.

I bought it for my almost 2 yo grand daughter but even my teenagers had to have a read through.

It's a cute lift-the-flap book about the months of the year and has a cute variety of sea critters. Cool. Nothing to complain about with that. If that's all you're looking for, then I have no problem recommending it.As an adult i think it's cute and memorable. It's hard to explain to a kid, though, why an octopus is going around eating all of these adorable animals, then...sneezing them out months later?I'm not sure I'd recommend it for teaching months of the year. A kid old enough to learn the months might find it a bit disturbing that an octopus ate a baby penguin, even if an illness made him squirt it out later.

Our children, 2 and 5, love this book. They fight over who gets to open each flap. It's very cute and good for learning the months of the year.
