works
First off I did not use this as a beard guide. I used to for the back of my neck. I cut my own hair and always worry that I won't get the back of my neck even. So I turned it around and it works great for it.

Finally a neck beard trimming template that consistently delivers perfect results.
I believe this guide works for me because; it has a consistent anchor point to top of ear with loop, the guide itself can adapt to your jaw line because it is hinged, the final adjustment of pulling from the back ensure perfect symmetry with jaw line. Other flexible templatesI have tried fail on repeatability, as hard as I have tried I could never get same results with other templates and was always left frustrated, there is just too much variability in set up. Competitors always left one side of jaw line different that other, either because it was not perfectly aligned to center point of face or because template as you got close to ear tended to flare up causing departure from jaw line.

The buckle does not work.
I have just received the product. Unfortunately, the buckle is loose; it does not work. There is no way to fix the template on my neckline.

Great trimming guide to trim by feel in a relaxed, natural neck position
So, I love having a well-groomed beard. The curve of the neck is one of the hardest things to figure out if you want it to look flat and straight when your head is in a normal position. Any guide you use has a "learning curve", and the hardest part is keeping a guide in place without stretching your skin too much... as you somehow managed to cut along it.The key thing to remember when you try create the initial lines of your beard: When you stretch your neck up to see what you are doing, you are changing the elasticity of your skin. When you make lines with your neck stretched up, the shape will of the lines will change when you lower your neck back into a relaxed position. Thus, you need to trim (almost by feel) with your neck in a neutral, relaxed position.Generally, you need to grow out your beard, and use a pair of electric clippers with a guide (when your neck is in a natural position), and then come back to clean up the lines with a real razor. In addition to this trimmer, I've used the Manecode guide and the Beard Ninja for years.Because of the straps, I'm going to declare this as above average. It's easy to position and hold into place. I don't tend to use these guides more often than about once every 2 weeks to create a baseline that I attempt to maintain freehand (day-over-day). I'll try to post some pictures to show how it works, and what I accomplished (shape-wise) while using it.I found it easiest to pair this with one of those micro-trimmer pen-shaped things to cut the basic lines with the guide. I also found it helpful to press it into my skin so I couldn't cut under it... or pull my skin to change the shape of the cut. It's hard to have a relaxed normal posture as you trim by feel. One added benefit of this (over the other guides) is that you can do both sides (wrap around) of your neck at once. With most, you do the left side... then the right side separately. And, you may find that you angled one up and the other down. With this... you at least have a level cut across both sides of your neck.Eventually (after you use this several times), you'll figure out the right shape to maintain... and you'll use it more rarely. That's perfectly normal. And, if you ever completely shave off your beard and regrow a new one.... this is probably the best for your "template" after growing everything out evenly for about 10-14 days.Having tried many different guides and shaping tools over the years, this is a decent one. It's a little gimmicky, but it's solidly functional with some practice.

Game changer
My husband thinks it’s great! I have to say his beard looks a lot sharper in my opinion as well.

Flimsy, fit.
Did not stay in place. Did not fit securely to get a straight line when shaving.

Good idea but not a great item
The plastic is thick and durable. There is nice elastic attached and it isn't scratchy. Save a picture of how it goes on, because once you are holding it, you suddenly feel like this a complicated machine.I got the cutting guard for my husband. It's his facial hair, but apparently I'm supposed to groom it? I thought with these nice guards he could do it himself. When I handed them to him, he seemed overwhelmed. I showed him how they go on and hoped that was the end of it.He could not get the guard to stay in one place. And his precision trimming looked like jagged cliffs. It was bad.i watched the next time he tried and he was holding it with one hand and shaving with the other and .......well in his case it did not work. The plastic is quite sturdy and thick, but that thickness seemed to make it harder to guide a razor next to. He also complained that with the guard and his hand and then the other hand with razor it was difficult to see what he was cutting. So, I'm back to being the facial hair trimmer. This is a good idea, and I can not decide it it is simply our clumsiness or the product that made this difficult to use.
