Superb Receiver at any price, and a bargain at this price…
Replaced a 12 year old Denon for which I paid $2000 in 2011. Loved that receiver, but I love this one more. Why?Cleaner menu design, easier to set up, runs much cooler, uses less power, great Wi-Fi and bluetooth. But those things are just what receivers must have these days. What really easy to love about unit is what’s most important:great sound. Take the money you save with this unit and buy better turntable, cartridge, TV or better speakers. Because the sound this unit produces is clean, clear, transparent and dynamic. I never listened to Yamaha products before, but I am sold now. Never going back to Denon.

Very nice budget unit
I use this in a 7.1 setup for movies and for stereo music. It works very well for both. I haven't gotten into any advanced setup but it sure sounds good out of the box. It was an open box item and although the box was badly beat up the unit itself was pristine.

Without instructions, it's hard to figure out how to connect what speakers to what terminals.
I can't judge any quality of the amplifier, as I only have 3 out of 7 speakers working right now,

Fantastic. Incredible Value
A little tricky for the initial setup. Not too bad. I use the bi wired front channels and wanted the 1080 to upscale to 2160. Firmware update with cat 5 took awhile so you know it was substantial. Sound quality is definitely improved over my older Yamaha receiver. Read out is okay but I needed to put it at an angle to see it. USB flash drive can only handle 500 tracks but no big deal. Same exact unit sells for $350.00 more with a different model number. Very Happy!!!

Reciever Had multiple issues
I've had the receiver for 2 years now. Within the first year, 2 of the HDMI ports failed. As of last night, the receiver stopped working altogether. All that is lite is a faint red power light and if you attempt to turn it on, the light flashes and nothing happens. I've also been a Yamaha fan back to the Natural Sound Receivers. I'm moving no.

Soooooo loud!
Sound's prenominal for 4K movies and music! Works as described.

Yamaha Rocks!
I have owned 3 Yamaha receivers in my many years of listening to audio and video. I am 69 years old and I have changes in technology, this one Is a 7.1 Is 4k surround sound AV unit To replace my 13 year old Yamaha system. I tried another manufacturer before I got this and I was extremely disappointed in clarity, sound and picture. I should know better when you find something that works stick with that manufacturer and you'll never be sorry. If you're looking for Any kind of AV unit do yourself a favor and get a Yamaha AV receiver you won't be disappointed.

Sounds great but,,,,,
Worked great but, when watching TV or playing my playstation the picture would go black without sound for about 5 seconds every minute, but watching my DVD player it would be fine. The only way to stop it would be to unplug the reciever while it was on, then wait 10 seconds and plug it back in. Then it worked properly until you turned it off. Then you would have to repeat unplugging it next time you turn it on again. Well I sent it back and ordered a Denon reciever. Haven't received it yet, but hopefully I'll have better luck
