English Assessment Papers Book 2 by Sarah Lindsay - Paperback

This is one of a series of English Assessment Papers for children from 5 – 13+ years. There are SO many workbooks available for younger children, but as your child passes the 11+ stage, they become less and less (particularly in the KS3 age group, which have been labelled the “wasted years” of education). So, I was pleased to see these books do go up to 13 and I hope that Bond will consider increasing the ages of their excellent workbooks for older children. Of course, it can equally be used for more advanced children sitting the 11+, if you have already completed previous workbooks in the series.This particular book is for 11+ - 12+ and includes ten papers, with a pull out answer book and a progress chart at the end of the book. The papers cover comprehension, plus grammar, punctuation and spelling. Each paper contains 100 questions, with scoring devises (score boxes in the margins) plus you see your score as a percentage. Like all Bond books, this offers good advice, a good range of questions and is nicely laid out and presented. However, as another review has pointed out - this has been previously released with a different cover so, if you already have the Assessment Papers for this age group then do not imagine this is a different book; it is just a newer edition.

If you are preparing for the 11+, then these are great. You do the worksheets at home & mark them for your child. You can see where they are strong or weak & where they need to be supported. The 11+ is written when most children are only 10 years old & for fee paying schools & grammar schools, they frequently test beyond the curriculum as they are interested in the more able pupils, so this book would be appropriate for children in the first term of year 6 (exams are in January in the Spring term.)

Excellent preparation for tests, with lots of relevant passages that provide a good introduction to many different genres pupils are likely to encounter; and at the right level. As the book can be used only once, just four stars, as I find them a little pricey.I hope you find my review helpful.

These were very much like actual exam questions and very much helped my child to get into a good school. Some questions were hard to answer and I couldn't answer some!Highly recommend for children preparing for 11+ exams or just for extra practice.
