It's a thin, filmy cover.. probably works better if you actually using on a chair. The filmy cover is apparently washer/dryer approved. The cushion is white, the filmy cover is black. The cushion has a kind of knobby texture that I was little concerned about - but it is actually not a problem. An instruction sheet comes with it to show you which is the front and back for the best posture - for my use, it's really more about the cushion and less about posture. I just like it.
