The ones I received work like this. Slow constant red blink until bite happens then it is a fast green blink. I have not yet used them but all three work as described. In my mind the colors should be reversed but that’s just my opinion. Potential problems I have found are listed next.1. To turn off, you must loosen the top almost to the point of removing the top lighted portion that seals the battery. I guarantee I will be losing batteries at some point as a result. Solution is to flip over a battery in the compartment so the top can be screwed tight but this is a hassle every time you want to turn off the light.2. I catch walleye quite a bit and they can be light bitters and nibblers at times. So if it’s not a strong bite it my not register and if so, with the light blinking then changing colors it can be hard to tell if the fish is still biting or just bit and let go.3. If the fish are light or fast bitters you may get a bite while it is between blinks and never know it. The slow red blink leaves the light off for a period of time then gives you 1 quick flash of red then turns off and repeats this over and over.4. I watch my rod tip pretty close while fishing and a flashing light will annoy me.These would be great if not constantly watching your rod. So do they work? Yes. Are they for me? Only if I had nothing else at night. I keep them for back up if I don’t have glow sticks. I much prefer those myself.
