This is great for camping trips and power outages from severe weather
this will be great for emergencies, but also camping trips because of it it’s compact size. The many different ways to charge it could be life-saving. Because it will take a long time to charge under solar power or hand crank to get to more than 30%.. but if it is dead, and your phone is dead, you can hand crank it for five minutes and it will get your phone to turn on.

Quality is great!
Gave this as a gift and they loved it. The radio comes in very well and sounds great. The lights are exceptionally bright, perfect for power outage or camping . They loved the fact that it was chargeable or solar chargeable!

Nice.
Nice little radio. I know there are lots of radios to choose from but I am very happy with this one. It has digital tuning so you don’t have to keep messing with a tuning dial to get the best signal. It has internal rechargeable batteries that charge from solar panel on top or hand crank. It also has disposable batteries that kick in when the rechargeables are depleted. I like the button controls vs dials. Compact size but large enough to comfortably work the buttons. Good sound and brings in my favorite channels crystal clear. Also has blindingly bright lights built in AND can charge your cell phone or other electronics. Good for emergencies and everyday use. I recommend it.

A great NOAA Radio with many additional features
This was a gift for my grandson. He was impressed with the numerous features. There are four ways to charge the radio. Plug in, battery, crank and solar. Best of all, you can charge your cell phone. It has AM/FM and SW bands and a powerful flashlight yet, it is small enough to put in your hunting and fishing bags. The perfect gift. Highly recommended.

Perfect for the road
I dropped my old weather radio and broke it, but now I'm glad I did. We need a weather radio when we're traveling cross country in our tiny Rv. The old radio was hard to tune into local weather stations on the move. It was great for the house as it stayed tuned in to our local NOAA station, but it was not great for the road. This radio is compact and super easy to use. It's quick to find the local weather stations. It also has all sorts of extra emergency gizmos. I like that there are so many ways to charge it - hand crank, batteries, plug it in, or solar. Also great is that other devices can be charged, there is a flashlight and a reading light and an emergency siren. As I just received it, I don't know how it will stand up to actual use on the road, but my first impression is positive. It has everything needed in an emergency. I will update later if issues arise.

Do not purchase, failed after 2 months.
Worked on arrival, and like others fails to power on using all available options within 2months of purchase. I contacted tech support and they had me reset the unit which is a small hole on side of the unit, worked after that.

Affordable choice for Weather Alert radio (assuming alerts work!)
I wanted to buy the Midland - ER310 ($50 on sale) based on great reviews from The Wirecutter and CNET. However, it’s only available for $101+ from an Amazon seller (way overpriced). Look around and you can find it for $50 at other stores.I didn’t want to wait as we have bad weather in our area now and I wanted to be prepared ASAP. This radio arrived the next day for $35.* What I like:Small size; very compact and it feels solid & durable (also IPX3 waterproof). The buttons to select options/change channels feel very nice and have a satisfying click. The reading light and flashlight work well. Very nice carrying strap. Digital tuner makes it easy to select stations. Loud SOS alarm. The unit came fully charged and ready to use. The ability to power the device from standard batteries (3 AAA’s), hand crank, or AC adapter. It has a solar panel but the manual notes it’s not intended to fully charge the unit but to “keep it operational” (my interpretation of the instructions).Speaker quality isn’t too bad for such a small unit. It’s not amazing, but it will do fine for news and weather alerts. The unit will use its rechargable battery for power first, then use AAA batteries if they are installed. This is a great feature and extends the runtime of the device. Radio also has a clock so you can check the time at a glance while using the radio. Headphone jack to listen to audio privately; ability to charge a device via USB. A plastic cover for the charge/power ports, to protect from dust/dirt. And I like the green colored case! I didn’t want bright orange so this is very nice. LCD screen backlight so you could use the device easily in the dark.* What I don’t like:Solar panel isn’t as usable for charging as I would like. I have not tested it but the manual specifically states the panel is not intended to fully charge the unit. There is no ability to save radio stations to memory/presets.. would be very useful. Now I just keep a piece of paper near the unit with radio stations written down, so I know which to tune to for news/etc. The radio antenna is quite short, so some stations won’t come in as clearly (but it works OK).While the fabric strap feels nice and provides a good way to carry the unit, the strap gets in the way of the flip-up reading light. One can move the strap out of the way but it does feel like this could have been designed better.* To be determined:I have no idea yet if NOAA Weather alerts work. If there’s a weather alert the radio is supposed to sound an alarm and flash a light, so you know to turn the radio on to listen to the weather alert. I haven’t received any alerts yet, but have only had this about 6 hours. When the device is set to receive weather alerts (by default it is set to do this), when the radio is on standby (powered off) a red LED on the side of the radio flashes once every 7 seconds. This is a nice way to confirm the setting, but until I receive an alert I won’t know if that works or not. (And it’s one of the reasons why I bought it!)* SummaryA nice, compact unit that seems to work well based on what I have been able to test so far. Once I receive a weather alert I’ll know for certain this works as expected; will update review if possible when that happens. Until I can verify the device fully functions I’m rating it 3/5 stars.Provided the weather alerts work, I think this is a good unit for $35. The Midland is $15 more but may be worth the cost, if you don’t want to take a chance on a company you have never heard of before.
