Q: What music does it play?

It comes with instructions for playing simple songs like Mary Had Little Lamb. The experience is in building it not playing songs on it. The video on the description page gives a good idea of how it sounds. There are only 2 strings and no way to really tune it so don't expect a sophisticated musical instrument. It is very enjoyable and somewhat challenging to build.

Q: What is the purpose of the 1st string since it doesnt touch the wheel to make a noise? Only the 2nd string does..

I'm very sorry to tell you but the string is supposed to touch the wheel. I wrote a review on this and I pointed out that it's poorly made. I had to re-engineer mine to even get it together. I can get both strings to touch the wheel but only part of the time. Unfortunately, it is really just a complicated puzzle that is more for display. I was terribly disappointed.
