Black & White

Let me start off by saying that this is not an enjoyable movie. However, I don't think Toback intended it to be. This movie seems to exist purely to explore street culture and the place that white and black people play in it. As a Knicks fan and as a fan of Allan Houston, I enjoyed this much more than most would because I found it entertaining to see Allan Houston act, even though his chill, monotone performance gets a little old by the end of it. "Power" actually gives a pretty intimidatingly real performance as the leader of a street gang. Ben Stiller nails his part as a former junkie turned cop trying to bust the gang leader. In the end, Robert Downey Jr. shines brightest as the gay husband of Brook Shield's documentarian character. Watch this movie, if only for the scene in which he hits on Mike Tyson and in which he breaks up with his wife as they are getting into the limo. Michael Fredo's "Free" ends the movie in a very refreshing way as it plays over a montage showing how all of the characters wind up. Most people, however, would find the movie to be annoying and disjointed, but a few great acting moments lie within.

It is surprising to hear about white people wanting to be black and fit in the hip hop culture. They had a much easier life. But, they did not realize how difficult the lives of blacks and minorities were and still are. There was one woman of color mentioning that she wanted to get out of the life she was and go to school. Overall, this movie is very diverse and interesting. People of all races should really watch this movie.

May not be the best written script, however, very unique with the varied cast of characters. Some of the most popular actors in some of there non-cast type roles.

For a 'B' movie this one is packed full of stars (a few on their way up the Hollywood ladder), and the story is not too bad either. I enjoyed it. Don't let your kids watch it.

I seen this movie years ago, and I loved it. This is an wonderful movie the plot of the movie is still relevant to today.

The DVD in general was good quality. The movie was okay. I would recommend it to my friends and family.

es sollte wohl so ne bestimmte Strassen Atmosphäre haben aber irgendwie kommt das nicht rüber, der ist sehr anstrengend anzugucken und ich habs auch nur durchs vorspulen bis zum ende geschafft, trotz einiger guter Schauspieler.
