No, this item is not "backyard" compostable. Do NOT toss it into your personal compost, it's not designed for that. These are rated as "commercially compostable", that is that can be broken down in municipal facility that has the proper technology in place. Sadly, very few communities have access to this as most compost facilities don't have the capability: "Currently, only a few hundred of the roughly 4,000 composting facilities in the U.S. have the ability to accept food scraps and a much smaller subset can accept bio-plastics." Q: Are the deminsions taken from the flat serface on the inside or over all lip to lip?

For the 9" and 7" that I just received, the dimensions are from edge to edge, including the entire plate, not just the flat inner part.
