Everyman's Talmud: The Major Teachings of the Rabbinic Sages

A must read for everyone, irrespective of what religion you follow. It’s a pity I read it so late in life, yet glad I did.

Wonderful book for everyone who wants a concise introduction to the principles of the Talmud

An extraordinary piece of scholarship, summarising into a systematic form, the basic theological/spiritual/cultural paradigms which both fed and are inherent in the Talmud. This work is helpful in redirecting the reader to the extraordinarily monolithic nature of Judaism across both time and geography, in contradistinction to much scholarship which seeks to – and often helpfully – shed light on the differences between various Jewish sects and periods. Abraham Cohen helps one to remember that Judaism is and has been both consistent in respect to key ideas about God and Israel, whilst producing breadth in the detail. Cohen reminds us that if you want the same hundred answers to one question, then ask a hundred rabbis how many gods there are.

This book surpassed all it was described to be, and is filled with great insights and key wisdom. This book will make a wonderful addition to any library and study resource.
