Forbidden Tomb
I have read all of Chris Kuznski's books and I just like the way he writes. His characters are quick witted, bigger than life action types with a soft side as well. I think a lot of the action genre is predictable, but it is entertaining and fun to read. It also touches a lot of nerves, in that there is a great deal of truth to the plots. Some could almost be pulled from the nightly news. The issues in the Middle East are on many minds these days. I do not believe the average person understands them or the way the people in that area think. While this book is about a treasure hunt for the Tomb of Alexander, it brushes up against the thought process of those that live there. It illustrates why we are regarded the way we are there, as we (the characters in the book and we as a nation) blunder our way through their lives with little regard for the outcome. This speaks more to the genre than this particular book. If you like action books, want to see places you may never have a chance to see, ride along with characters you may never meet. hop on with Chris and ride through the pages of his books. You will enjoy the ride and may learn something on the way.

An entertaining read
Note: This is my first exposure to "The Hunters" series, so I'm reading things out of order. That said, I didn't find it difficult to follow.Kuzneski has clearly done copious amounts of research to bring this novel to fruition, and has successfully woven an entertaining archeological thriller—exactly what I was looking for when I sat down to read this book. I like the A-team approach to the series; each character has a unique personality that works well within the context of the story, and they play off each other well. I would have liked to have seen a little more character development, as well as development of the nascent attraction between Cobb (team leader) and Sarah (former spook), particularly at the (brutal) conclusion to this book, as the conditions seemed ripe for an intimate moment between the two.So why four stars instead of five? There was quite a bit of "head-hopping" within chapters, the perspective changing between characters without chapter or section breaks. I found this a little bit disorienting. Kuzneski also set up many of the chapters with what I would consider something of an information dump by way of a preamble—breaking the flow of the story by injecting information about a historical site or cultural singularities as a narrator would.

Kuzneski at his BEST!
This is a great series if you enjoy action, adventure & comedy all tethered to real-world facts, science, etc. I've read all of Chris's books and I can tell you... This is the culmination of his talents in a finely polished series. Picture a book with a magic portal in its binding. The minute you open it you're transformed into the seat of narration. You feel yourself jumping from one character to the next as the story unfolds. And the part I like the best and yes....it's an author tool, but a great one, is that at the end, he ties it all into another subplot within the series with MEGA intrigue. Is it designed to make you purchase the next book? Yes... Is it because it is just a tool/gimmick? NO! It's because you want to genuinely know what's going on. Yeah-yeah... It's called a cliffhanger, but it is done brilliantly! It isn't a cheap WILL THE HERO FALL OVER THE CLIFF-cliffhanger. It's an OMG! I MUST KNOW WHAT THAT.....IS.. I eagerly look forward to the next installment in the series!!

Kuzneski gets better and better.
Kuzneski keeps getting better. The first book in this series, The Hunters, was pretty good, but in this book the characters have fleshed out, and the story line was really interesting. The hunters are unknowingly searching for pieces of eight for an unknown benefactor for a ridiculous amount of money. I'm assuming there will be eight books in the series, and at this point, the series is fresh, and I would welcome all eight books.

Good read but sad!
It was a good, fast paced book. But I did feel sad that a whole culture and way of life had to be destroyed for perceived good! It's really what's wrong with our world when we feel we have to stamp it with our version of what's good. C'est la vie I suppose. Hopefully, ancient cultures will survive these times too!

Book 2 set up at the end of book 1, was not disappointed at all
This is book 2 in the series. And just like book 1, you can tell there will be another one to come. At the very end you get a hint as to where the story line is going, just like the first book gave a hint. Setting you up for the next book in the series.the only time I give a hint to what the plot is actually about is when I think it is terrible, and I have only done that in one book review. I am looking forward to the next book. Glad I actually caught this series in book 1.And no, you do not have to start at book 1. But that is where all the characters are introduced. Now they are all developing in their own way, and they are all becoming closer in the adventures they share.

Another action packed thriller. Good characters and good story line. Good descriptive text and narrative. Teaches you of the past as well but not so as you know it! Excellent. Have ordered the next one

Impressive
The book was a great read. Though it is not connected to the first book, it would be better to read the first one inorder to understand the characters.
