Great if your pot is the right size and your stove is low profile
Small, simple, and effective. It's not as light as titanium but it also doesn't cost that much. It flexes and clips onto the neck of your fuel can and provides effective wind protection for most low profile stoves without the risk of falling off or causing your fuel can to overheat. Be sure the "radius" of this windshield will work with your pot/cook system. I use it with the Optimus Terra Weekend HE (.95L) pot and it fits perfectly (since it was designed for this pot) and should work fine with similar or smaller diameter pots. It probably won't work with larger diameter pots. I haven't tried doing an actual "weigh your fuel and see how much you save" test but I just like the fact that I can easily rotate this around and have it block the wind and still have access to my stove's igniter and valve on the "downwind side" of the windshield. Because my pot nests inside of this, it essentially added no volume to my backpack, only a little extra weight.

Works well, lightweight, good value for the price.
The Optimus windshield fits snugly on the iso-butane canisters and blocks the wind well. It also fits well around my Toaks 750ml cook pot so it stores easily in my backpack adding little weight, taking up little space yet saving fuel and making boiling water faster and more efficient. Nothing but good news to report on this item.

Works on a Fire Maple FMS-300t stove
I compared this to a home-brew windscreen and the home-brew won. That being said, I'm keeping the Optimus clip-on. It DOES have some advantages over the home-brew. For general speed of heating and fuel conservation, the Optimus is better than nothing. In a 5 mph breeze I have trouble getting the Fire Maple FMS-300t by itself to stay lit, and it if DOES stay lit, the water never reaches a boil. In contrast, with the Optimus the FMS-300t stays lit even in a 10 mph breeze. At 5 mph water boils in about 6 minutes. At 10 mph the water was not boiling even after 10 mnutes. This is in context of the system boiling water in just under 5 minutes with no breeze. For reference, the home-brew windscreen in 2.5 minutes with no breeze, and around 4 minutes in a 10 mph breeze. During this testing starting temperatures of water and pot and room were held constant. The relative boiling times should be a reasonable illustration of the efficiency and effectiveness of each wind protection scheme. Why keep the Optimus if the home-brew heats so much faster under all conditions? In a word, simplicity. I made my home brew in two parts so it would fit inside my 900 ml Stanley Mountain Compact pot. These parts are held together on the stove by stainless spokes woven through the pot supports. It's not a bad system, but just cannot compare with the "clip it on" simplicity of the Optimus system. Optimus storage with a 900 ml pot is pretty good as well. Where my home-brew slides between my pt and a nested Ozark Trail 18 oz stainless cup, the Optimus simply snugs around the outside of the pot inside a small Outdoor Product ditty bag. The final reason I'm keeping the Optimus is peace of mind. If I think there is ANY chance I'll boil water while distracted I'll use the Optimus. The actual stove valve gets uncomfortably hot with the Optimus, but the top of the canister remains relatively cool to the touch. With my home-brew in warm weather the top of the canister gets to the upper limit of my idea of "too warm to be safe with a canister." So I'll be using the Optimus from time to time. But my home-brew will remain my go-to windscreen.

A+++++ Windshield / Stable / Easy to pack / Looks great!
Used the "Optimus" while backpacking the Mt Whitney high country (Sequoias/Inyo) for 5 days. Worked like a charm and even gave my "GSI SI Outdoors Pinnacle Soloist" more stability. Worth every penny for the price. And YES....worked great with a decent amount of wind. Clamps on to the neck of the canister and no wobble. Even looks great! I leave it wrapped about my pot and pack it together as if it's a unit. I use it with my "Ultralight Backpacking Canister Camp Stove with Piezo Ignition 3.9oz (silvery Stove and orange box)" (Amazon) and in my humble opinion......... me it packs down smaller then a Jet Boil.

Better prepared to cook in the wind and takes up very little space!
My husband has one and I always thought they were unnecessary and silly. Until I saw how well his worked in the wind! I saved money in the past with the little "fold up hinging kind" and I'm giving that away now. This doesn't take up much space since it clips to the canister/pot for storage. Worth the investment.

Cant see thru it but its a hell of a wind shield otherwise ;)
This thing is great. Its simple to use, nests with one of my pots perfectly and does exactly what its supposed to do and well! I said one of my pots though. I have a 1ltr pot with a heat exchanger that I prefer over all my others. Water boils faster in that sort of pot and by a fair margin! The one I have is in my reviews if you care. Its just a little too big to use this windshield with and that's disappointing. Not disappointing enough to make me buy Optimus' heat exchanger pot for 4x the cost...at least not yet. But, I havent had a miserable time dealing with the wind running chow time yet either so who knows :) If you are not a miser like me I think you probably ought to buy their kit that has the stove, shield and heat exchanger pot all in one. I'll bet thats a effin solid kit!!!

Loose fit
At first glace it looks good. Haven't had a chance to try it out in the wind but the screen as it came does not sit snugly on the fuel can. From other pictures I've seen the spring holds the opening tighter than the one I received.

Works great at blocking the wind on my Fire Maple stove.
This windshield works great with my Fire Maple stove and Petrel table. When tucked away, my Petrel pot nests inside this windshield so it takes up very little space.

No More Wasting Fuel In High Winds
slow delivery but worth the wait. Clips onto any standard diameter isopro fuel canister (MSR, JetBoil, Optimus, Primus etc. (4oz., 8oz. 16oz). This screen while fitting all canisters is limited by the size to pot you can use....I don't have the Optimus Terra pots, which this screen was made for, but it works quite well with my Primus Litech 1 liter solo cook set which has similar dimensions. This windscreen will increase the efficiency of your canister stove as much as 60% in windy conditions. It also saves fuel, and for light packing hikers who rely on a single canister to last the duration of their trek this is an essential piece of kit.
