Fantastic book
I would recommend this book to anyone. It is crammed full of interesting places to visit/stay/eat in. I am fairly well travelled in the UK, but have found so many places that I did not even know about. Lots of ideas for families as well. Buy it!!

Quite interesting
Interesting content in full colour all over UK. My wife and I brought this book every time we explore the different places. Unfortunately thread binding is coming off after 4 months of use. However if you are planning to go there for the first time this may not be the book for you. Font could also be a touch bigger. Detail is generally lacking as it's expected you go to the relevant web sites to access up-to-date information. A great "backup" guide to the UK I'd recommend getting

It's a good read - not as funny as a Billy Bryson book though but.

A technical disgrace from Amazon
Do not buy the Kindle version. The only way to find any place in the book is from the maps. There is no other index or contents. This would be fine but in the Kindle version the maps are unreadable so you are left with 500 places in random order and no way to search them. It is a technical disgrace from Amazon.

There's more to Britain...
Samuel Johnson famously once said that when a man was tired of London, he was tired of life. Yet Johnson made it a point to travel as far as the Scottish Hebrides. "Make the Most of your Time in Britain" is Rough Guide's answer to Samuel Johnson: an offering of the obvious and the less obvious in Britain. In a terse combination of words and color pictures, the guide offers Britian's seemingly infinite variety, from Greater London to the most remote villages, and much in between, including obscure but enjoyable festivals, castles, seascapes, natural history, museums, and the like. The guide helpfully includes some references for those enterprising travelers needing more research. Very well recommended.
