How quiet are the buttons? I'm trying to make a silent fidget cube

Well unfortunately silent is not what the buttons are designed for, while you will be able to get quite a satisfying tactile feel with these push buttons, the noise produced from them is definitely noticeable. Another thing to note is their size, these buttons are quite small about the size of your pinky finger nail which would make your fidget cube quite small.

Do these use a standard PCB footprint pin spacing of 4.5x6.5mm?

That sounds about right. I had to spread the pins slightly to place them on a prototype board with .1" spacing (5.08mm x 7.62mm).

Perfect fit in Fellowes 79Ci paper shredder

These PC board mounted switches saved my big, dead $300 Fellowes 79Ci paper shredder that would not power on. I tore it down, took out the power/forward/reverse switch module, un-soldered old switches, soldered 3 of these in. Perfect fit and function.

They are buttons and they work!
