Also, when I take the lid off, there is a second piece that comes off the lid. It too needs to be lined up just perfect so that the diffused water can flow out of the top. It just makes it slightly inconvenient when adding more water and oil. The light that the clock gives off is pretty bright too. The timer is convenient and works well, but it is of not use if the humidifier is inconsequential. The clock works, but it is in military time, and that was not in the description.
