Prepworks by Progressive Canning Scoop, Nylon

I bought this for canning since pouring hot liquids out of a pot into a jar, even with a funnel on top of it can get a bit messy and I was tired of burning myself. It would be much easier to scoop the liquid out to fill the jar but none of my soup ladles did the trick. When this came, I was disappointed by the way it looked and felt. To me it actually looked like a cheap plastic scoop although the handle looked okay but it would melt the second I used it in hot liquid. Not only doesn't it melt, I have been using this for my canning and scooping out stew and pumpkin and any other need I came across and this scoop works like a charm. It is my favorite item to use to scoop/ladle since not only is the scoop big, it is designed so it can get down to the bottom of the pot. It won't get every last drop but darn near and much closer than any kind of ladle I have ever used in the past. I also love the hook to hang on the side of the pot since it cuts down on clean up from a dripping spoon on top of the stove. (After using it a few times, the 'looks' are not an issue, in fact, I go scanning the utensils looking for my shinny red scoop.) As far as my fears of it breaking, there is no cracks, no problems at all with it and I have used it many times and not just for canning. This is perfect for dishing out soup or stews in bowls since one or two scoops fills the bowl and you can get the chunks of meat or potatoes (or whatever) in the scoop as well without it falling out and splashing hot liquid on you or the table or worse yet, on your guest/family. I love this scoop so much, I ordered another so I can have one dedicated to canning and the other for my everyday kitchen needs.

I know what you are thinking. That’s pretty darn expensive for a ladle. That’s exactly what I thought, too. But I bought it anyway and WOW. What an awesome tool for my canning kitchen!!!!It’s bigger than I expected - in a very good way. It’s heavier and sturdier than I expected - also in a very good way. And it’s nice looking. The fact that it hangs on the edge of the stock pot is brilliant and makes my canning jobs SOOO much easier AND easier to clean up after!! I love this thing and highly recommend it!

I use this ladle for canning. I canned vegetable soup and chicken bone broth, also raspberry jam. I like this ladle because it is bigger than my others, at least 1 cup and it fills the jars faster. It also scoops the last bit in the bottom of the pot better! I Love good canning tools! It also hangs on the side of the pot! So help to not be reaching constantly!

This ladle is so useful. Sturdy and strong and I really like the little hook to set on the pot edge. Easy pour and scooping. This is the best for canning.

This is great for canning or freezing food. Soups, stews and sauces are so much easier to dish up. Prepworks by Progressive Canning Scoop Progressive seems to make very good products, so I look for them.

I purchased this ladle to use in canning season and man does it work well. Not only does it not fall down into your pot it gives you a much cleaner way to fill your jars or any other use for that matter. With ladling food into jars you have a limited space and this helps keep the spillage and cleanup to a minimum. Great for serving at the dinner table for soups or gravy. Give it a try you will be as happy as I am with mine.

If you have a straight-edged pot, the hook on the ladle will work perfectly. If your pot has a lip around the edge, so that a lid would fit inside the lip, then the hook on the ladle will not work. Otherwise it's a great utensil for ladling food, home canning, etc.

This spoon has the perfect shape for dipping and poring. It is well made and can take on the serious task of cooking. One feature that makes it a top spoon in my kitchen is the notch for resting on side of pot or pan so it doesn’t get lost down into what I am cooking. Perfect size for storing easily in drawers or countertop storage. . Worth every penny!
