So far so good. Sits on the counter well. Appears to be well made. For us it's replacing a more typical mortar of similar size that lacked the straight outside wall. The bottom fell out of our old one after many years of use. Hopefully this will last as long.

This makes crushing pills to place in a feeding tube so easy!!! It is so well designed for those of us who have nerve problems with the large pestle with the rubberized grip. I have two very large and very hard pills that this thing crushes into fine powder without much effort at all. This is one of those products that surprises with how good it is.

I chose the ceramic with unglazed grinding surfaces to effectively smash and mix things without trailing color or smell; this item did not disappoint.However, the features is this particular mortar and pestle of that sort really saved the day. I have always wanted one of these, but had never taken the plunge. This one caught my eye because it's weighted and non-slip, just seemed like a good idea. White making s chili paste with garlic cloves and various spices, my enthusiasm outpaced my skill with this new tool. Only the weighted button and the non-slip silicone footprint saved me from losing control if both pieces and their contents. I doubt I would have had both mortar and pestle survive the flying smash my inexperience would have created.The silicone assists with grip on both pieces, and the effectiveness for grinding and smashing and mixing ingredients is as expected for this type of tool. Also, the item is well constructed and blissfully easy to clean without any residual color or smell--it looks brand new after the first use.I feel like it's a good visit for the money given the overall design and function--especially if you're not familiar with using one of these.I'm someone who likes to get something completely clean so this fits the bill. I'm also not keen on seasoning a tool that's not exposed to heat so the unglazed ceramic properties are perfect for my needs.[That said, I still can't determine where it was made between the box, insert, and markings absent from the item.]

We ordered this product to crush medications. We have been using it daily for nearly 2 months, and it has been working terrifically until today when it broke (pushed through the bottom). I have contacted the vendor to get a replacement, and will update worth more information when I hear back.Because I have been so happy with this so far I am giving a 3-star review. I may update that rating based on what I hear back from the vendor.Edited to update: I contacted the vendor the same day I wrote my initial review. They responded with a few hours and I had the option of a refund or a replacement. I requested a replacement which they sent me immediately, and I have received it! There was a little delay due to holiday and email exchanges (they needed the order number which I had neglected to provide at first contact).I'm very happy with the level of customer service that I received and how they ensured that I was completely satisfied. I am changing my rating from a 3 to 4 due to their awesome service and quick resolution.

I have hesitated to spend the money for a mortar & pestle for a long time, but finally took the plunge. I am so happy with this set… it was larger & heavier than I was envisioning, but is so solid and efficient, easy to rinse clean and does the job in no time! It has made taking difficult-to-swallow tablets a breeze as I turn them into powder and eat them with something puréed like applesauce or yogurt. I haven’t tried a pesto yet, but that’s my next task! LOVE this quality item from Cooler Kitchen!

Perfect for my needs. Just the right size and priced right. Not cheep at all and seems durable. Not heavy like others and looks great in my kitchen.
