The story we all know with visuals that are breathtaking. So much beauty, so much wonder and things for kids to discover with every turn. Unlike other versions of this story, this one feels like it's nighttime and the scenes go right to the edge of every page. It feels magical. So thankful that it's not a modern setting. So thankful the images are drawn/painted and don't look like computer animation like so many new books do. Almost like a mix of styles that lean towards American impressionism. It's an absolute shame Cheryl Harness hasn't illustrated hundreds of kids books. I posted the age as 3+ but my son started loving just past 2 years old.

I read this my boys every season in my own native language with some interpretation but sometimes we read also the original English poem. They simply love the images and fall asleep so fast and well, amazing book, I recommend it even if only for looking at the images, the text is great anyway.
