Enjoyable book
This isn’t the type of book I normally read, but after getting into it, and figuring out who all these different people was, I started to enjoy the book. I think I will try another one of hers and see if I still like the way she writes.

stay with it
OK in full disclosure, I love Cathy Kelly, she has been my favorite author since I spontaneously bought "Just Between Us" off of a buy one, get one free sale at an old book store-I couldn't find anything else that interested me. This book though, well, I struggled at the beginning. We are introduced to SO many people, by chapter 3 I had no clue who was our 3 women and who was friends. We met friends, relatives, coworkers, random people. And I was overwhelmed and frustrated. I put it aside and gave up on it. Then after reading something else, I decided hey, I paid for this book, I'm going to get through it. So I started over, this time, I wrote down who was who. Game changer!! Once I had that handy and could keep everyone straight, this book was unputdownable. There was twists and turns I did not expect. We have Bea (widow, hasn't dated in 10 years and has one son) Sid (had a bad breakup, hasn't dated in years, is now "just friends" with Finn) and Marin (married to Nate, a compulsive shopper, obsessed with fixing everything for everyone even though her own life is a disaster. All three of these women are completely different, but intertwined via a friends network. They all 3 have completely different stories to tell. I don't want to give anything away, but this is a great book IF you can stick it out past chapter 3. Just focus on the 3 main characters and you'll be fine. For me, it has continued the streak of loving what Cathy Kelly writes.

Easy read
I got upset with the women in the beginning, they let people use them. I don’t understand why people don’t tell the truth, if someone else hurt you it’s on them not you.

An immediate favorite of mine.
What a fantastic book. I so enjoyed it and hope that this author will continue to write more books like this one. Started reading it and could not put it down. Well done!

Favorite author
The set up for the plot kind of directs your focus in the wrong direction, and I spent most of the book trying to figure it out!...which was distracting me from the pages that I was reading. But it was still a good book.

Got me right from the start
Realised I read the book ages ago, but not reviewed it nor entered it into Goodreads. An unlikely but possible story line, with realistic characters - zinged along pleasantly

Family and female friendships!
Three women – Bea, a widow with a child who still grieves the loss of her husband; Marin, married to Nate with a life that seems perfect, but she has an addiction; Sid, independent, plucky and damaged, she hides a dreadful secret. They are all close, good friends – but each has something to hide.Other Women comprises friendship, love, angst and betrayal – with well-developed characters (quite a few at the beginning) showing their day to day lives, Cathy Kelly weaves a refreshing story of family and female friendships. A short review as spoilers would be easy to reveal in this book. A light and enjoyable read which I recommend.

More interesting than entertaining
I read all Cathy Kelly‘s books, usually I’m riveted to the Kindle but I didn’t find this book as absorbing, and it was a very slow read. I didn’t find the characters had as much warmth as usual...sorry, Cathy.

Not for me
This book is absolutely dreadful. The dialogue is ridiculous. Nobody talks the way these characters do. It's so unnatural. The characters are all one dimensional. The whole message behind it seems to be that all women are different but wonderful and can do no wrong which is obvious nonsense. I hate that kind of thing anyway but these women were actually really irritating. For a book about female empowerment, there's an awful lot of shallow uninteresting bs about clothes and appearance and very their lives are all intrinsically tied up with men's so they don't seem independent at all. Not that different either as they're by and large middle-class women with office jobs. I didn't quite finish this but in my opinion, it is boring and annoying and I wouldn't reccommend it at all.

Underwhelming
Cathy Kelly used to be one of my favourites but I found this a bit underwhelming.Irish authors are my "go-to", being Irish I find there is something special about stories set there but "Other Women" could have been set anywhere. There was nothing "Irish" about it, I think there may have been one mention of Dublin and that was it. As her blurb states "Her trademark is warm and witty Irish storytelling about modern life" - sadly that was lacking completely from this book.

Slow
I felt this was not up to Cathy Kelly's normal standard. It was very slow to get going and if I'd borrowed rather than paid for it I might not have bothered to finish it. Sorry as I usually enjoy her books.

Yawn
I used to love this author's books but this one is terrible. Extremely dull and slow to get going. So slow I didn't finish it. The narrative spread across three speakers didn't work well as they all sounded the same so I had to keep checking to see who the chapter was about.
