Works well with 3" edging
These work exactly how they should with the edging I bought. I bought the 3" dark brown edging that goes with these stakes. These were easy to put into the ground using a hammer and they stay where they should. The top kind of clips on to the edging and locks in place over it. I needed two bags of these for one roll of the edging. None of them broke or bent while putting them in the ground. Since I am using the shorter edging a good part of these stakes are in the ground which probably makes them as sturdy as they are. Using a taller edging might be different since not as much will be underground. I am very happy with the quality of these and they match my edging perfectly.

Did not have problems that previous reviews noted
These stakes worked fine for me, even in my dense clay soil. I did wet the soil first and poke a "starter" hole with a screwdriver (essential). No problems with breakage when I hammered them in. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is that I used the edging to create circles for mulch around trees, and the clips at the top of the stakes don't open enough to fit 2 widths of the edging inside to overlap and close the circle. Luckily I had some old stakes with a wider space there, and I used one of them per tree instead of a Master Mark stake.

Attractive and Easy to Use!
These stakes worked well! Because I was making tree circles I used 10 stakes per circle to keep the terrace board in place. I had no problem with overlapping the terrace board and using the stakes to hold 2 rows of terrace board at the ends. Just carefully open up the clip a little with a flathead screwdriver and them hammer it in. It will work just be careful and take your time. For circle applications I think there should be about 6 inches of overlap as it will look better that way! If you are not making circles or curves you can space out the stakes more for straight areas. But you do need more stakes for circles and for curves than in straight applications! This Terrace Board is a deep Chocolate Brown color and the stakes match that color exactly. The stakes and terrace board all look great with brown, tan or black mulch, white stone and light pink stone. The only thing I have seen it used for that I did not like was the red colored mulch. Other than red colors I think the stakes and terrace board look great with everything! The stakes were easy to use and you get ten in each package. I think most people who use edging do it for appearance first and functionality second. This product works well for both of those goals!

Awesome, well-made, thick plastic stakes. High priced but worth it!
Works as advertised! Used this to hold in place a 5" high retainer board, and since the retainer board is inserted into the dirt by about 1.5-2" (thus sitting 4" above the ground), this 6" length was perfect to hold it in place.Very high quality and durable, bashed it over and over with a rubber mallet, and it never cracked or chipped. I must have moved them 4-5 times before finally calling it a day, and these things just held up like champions. The other great thing about this is that it 'clips onto' the board really tightly, so that it and the board would never move. Take a close look at the top portion of the stake and you'll see how it clips onto the board. SUPER strong grip.

Adequate
I've only used these stakes for about a week. So far they seem to be adequate. I would have preferred they be 2-3 inches longer than they are, since I'm using them with 5 inch wide edging. They also sell 3 inch wide edging and I think these stakes would be more suitable for this narrower material. Only time will tell how suitable they are for the 5 inch wide edging.I believe the stakes should be twice as long as the edging is wide. I also thing the pointed end should have a symmetrical point. These have a point similar to a wood chisel point. The angle is only on one side.I especially like the fact that they are made out if what appears to be a composite plastic material. They should last a very long time without rust (like metal stakes or deterioration.5/17/2013I've noticed something else about these stakes I don't care for. Freezing & thawing of the soil works these stakes up from the original depth by at least 1 inch over one winter season. Enough for the U-shaped hook at the top to completely unhook from the top of the edging.Fortunately, it takes less than a minute to choose a slightly different spot & drive them back into the soil. I'd also suggest leaning them about 5-10 degrees toward the edging, which also makes the edging lean, before driving them into the soil.

Very good quality, work better than the product that comes with the terrace board
Bought two packages, then bought two more. These are beefier than the stakes that come with the terrace board, are longer, so they are sturdier when in-ground, the top is wider to make it easier to tap with a rubber mallet. Plus there were not enough of the stakes in the original terrace board. The clip is bigger and very sturdy, meaning you can clip to pieces together when you have to have a long run. Love these. Would like them to be a tad bit less expensive.

Filled the need.
Needed something to border neighboring fence line as she chose to lay mulch over her lawn to avoid having to mow. That being said, the mulch was washing into my year killing grass for past two years and clearly she wasn't going to fix the problem. I found this on Amazon, read the reviews and decided that this would work. It has - as others noted I laid out in the sun to flatten out first, trenched the edge of the yard with an edger and lined up the Terrace Board using recommended stakes to hold in place. Was easier to install than I thought it would be; my rubber mallet got a work out but everything went great..I am also a petite 68 yr young female and did this without assistance.

Superb! Just what I needed.
Great! These stakes are just what I need to use for the installation of thin recycled edging strip along parts of my garden.I was unable to obtain such stakes here in Canada and was glad to be able to receive them via Amazon.com/.ca and have startedusing them.

Did the job
These are not as strong/rigid as the stakes that came with my Amazon Basics edging... however they did the job, as I needed more stakes. I couldn't find extra stakes for the Amazon branded one so I went with these. These are the same length and of similar style, just not as good if you have to pound them into firmer soil.

You may not need it.
Product is good quality and arrived on time, but it turns out that I was able to place the edging without them. If you don’t have a curved edge, you may not need them too.
