Suspenseful story of abducted children
This is an intriguing tale of home invaded (all doors & windows locked) child abductions that is told from several angles, including the abductor who is a sad individual that eventually becomes a sympathetic character. The police Detective Inspector Sean Corrigan is interesting, complex and very sensitive, putting himself inside the abductor's mind in the manner of Behavioral Analysis such as the detectives on Criminal Minds. Luke Delaney is an exciting new suspense author and I will definitely be reading more of his books, as this well written novel holds your interest from start to finish. A great read.

Great Book! Loved it!
This is the first Luke Delaney book I have read, & I thoroughly enjoyed it. It kept me guessing "who dunnit" until the very end. Plot & characters were very good. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves detective murder mysteries.

Sean was mostly irritating in this book as was the villain so the book was slow going especially after the first two good books. There was an interesting twist at the end that I missed so I will read the next book in the series.

Bom livro

Not for me, but YMMV.
Even after saying that I would buy no more of this authors books, (after #2), I bought this one. But this author is no Stuart Macbride, there is no hint of humour, anywhere in any of his books, (I am now reading #4, The Jackdaw). I have never. in all my life, worked anywhere, where colleagues don't have a little joke with each other, now and again, even if only to relieve the boredom, or seriousness, of their activities. But this sour, dour, miserable person, D.I Corrigan, just keeps giving more of the same. His poor long suffering wife, Kate, is still taking his miserable moods in her stride. But, no, I shall be glad to finish #4 as the author has not yet written #5, so I will have caught up with his writing, and will NOT be buying #5. The Toy Taker, is, jue=st like the books that preceded it, another refection of this dour cop's personality. It's one long drag, from page one to the last page. Knowing what I know now, I would never have purchased the first book, After #1, I tried another, just to see if this miserable person, D.I. Sean Corrigan, would lighten up a little, both for his wife and children's sake, and for the lovely Sally, Corigan's partner. I only bought into this series, because I enjoyed Stuart Macbride's writing, and have read all his books to date. Accordingly, I am waiting for Mr. Macbride to complete his next book, ans this series was recommended as an alternative, which it IS NOT. There is no comparison between these authors. Buy into this series at your own risk, it is a boring set of books.

The best in the series, so far
Whilst I have enjoyed the first two books in the series, I found them a bit over written, concentrating too much on the “special” abilities of DI Corrigan. These are downplayed on this third book, replaced in part, by his team’s transfer to New Scotland Yard and the stresses of dealing with a new, very ambitious, boss. There is a lot of police procedure involved in their first case from their new home, which heightened the enjoyment for me. A very satisfying read.
