This thing can cut thin slices from a spongy loaf of bread or saw a thick brisket with deckle fat in half nearly instantly.

I have a few of these knives and I probably won’t use another knife tbh- just a great brand.

Poor quality. Buy Victorinox instead it can be found on sale for the same price.

Once again, Messermeister is my go-to place for knives. I really like this one--since I make all my own bread, I don't know why I waited this long to get it. Sweet!

killer knife for it's price

This was one of those weird purchases from Amazon. I wanted to buy a nice, relatively inexpensive bread knife made in the USA or somewhere other than China. Narrowed it down to 3 choices and chose this one primarily because of the verbiage in the description about how the manufacturer would recondition and resharpen the blade anytime it was needed at no cost - forever. That sounded like a good deal to me. Sometime after the knife arrived I decided to look at the manufacturer's website to verify this. I found similar verbiage - which was followed by a disclaimer that their lifetime blade reconditioning and resharpening did NOT apply to scallop bladed knives. After reading that I wished I had purchased one of the other knives I had selected. This knife is sharp, feels balanced in the hand and slices bread very well. It comes with a rather flimsy vinyl cover which, I suppose, is better than nothing if you are storing it in a drawer with other utensils. I must have missed the fact that it is made in Portugal as is stated in the short description. I was expecting it to be made either in the USA or Germany from the detailed description. It could have been made anywhere in the world as far as I know. Because, it is the only knife I have ever purchased that does not have the country of origin stamped on the blade - which is very strange.

My wife and I have purchased several knifes made by Messermeister as Christmas gifts for our son and his wife. They were so pleased with the high quality of each knife. When the Four Seasons Scalloped Baker's Bread Knife, 8" arrived they were extremely disappointed. This knife has a plastic handle on and the quality is not at all like the other knives made by Messermeister. The other knives were made in Germany this one was made in Portugal. Nowhere in the description did it mention this or the plastic handle.

Good to use when new but will lose sharpness after a few months (cutting bread only).

This knife works like a dream on our homemade bread, and it slices bread better than any knife I have ever used. I feel pleased about this purchase every time I use it!

I gave this knife as a gift to my daughter-in-law. She is a big foodie and was thrilled when she opened it. We used it almost immediately and found it worked even better than we expected. Highly recommend it for anyone.
