He didn't show a lot of interest in it after first receiving it, but in the last few months he has been playing with it quite often. I do like that the maps are very educational, and that he can learn a lot of different things by playing with this. I personally would recommend it for a little bit older child may be 4 to 6 years old. I do believe we will get a few more years use out of this toy. We do not use it with a phone or iPod, he just uses the interactive map included. I deducted one star from the product because the top portion that holds the maps in place does fall off quite often. He's a little rough on thinks and i figured this was a quality made product. Its ver flimsy and not durable at all. The clear plastic cover that hold the different mats in comes off and opens very easily. I think today alone i have put it back on at least 5 times. During play you really have to push on the mat to get it to work. There is only a thin piece of plastic behind that mat and i have a feeling it will be broken before long from regular use. Also the strap that you can attach for carrying doesn't stay on. Yet another thing for me to have to put back on a million times a day.The information on the sheets is great and my sons loves that part. We also don't have iPhones so we use it without those functions.My daughter absolutely loves this thing. She insists on taking it with her everywhere and wherever she does, every child in the building will congregate around her and watch her play with it. It amazes me to see these kids who have iPads and Kindles will literally sit them down and come over to try to play with this toy.
