SmallRig Universal Shoulder Pad with 15mm RailBlock 2077

Great build quality, like most SmallRig components. The gel pad is a bit stiffer than I expected, but more comfortable than the foam rubber shoulder pads I have tried. There are plenty of mounting holes on the cheese plate and the 19mm rods connections work well.How well this will fit with your camera and other components is largely trial and error. Some cameras work well on a shoulder rig while others...not so much. I am using this with Panasonic GH5 and Sony FS5 cameras. Neither are really well suited as a shoulder camera, as both need an EVF for viewing when the camera is positioned to one side. I am able to get around this by using a 5" Black Magic Video Assist monitor, but a true EVF would be better. The other issue with cameras on a shoulder rig is getting them balanced to avoid arm fatigue. I add a heavy V-Mount battery at the back end of the shoulder pad to offset the weight the the camera, and it works quite well. Other people use some kind of metal weight for the same effect.Overall, this is a great product at an affordable price. If you can make it fit with your camera and shoulder rig components, you should be pretty happy with this product.

I discovered the Smallrig brand a few months ago and all their gear is well thought out. Its a Chinese brand which sometime seems sketch, but with them the only issue was availability. If your building or adding to an existing rig, I would feel comfortable using this brand. As for me I didn't want to spend the 2-3k on a rig but felt this brand was very comparable to other brands for the high end quality. The shoulder pad is a little small, but comfortable and has a cheese plate which you add additional accessories to.

Another homerun for smallrig. I love the fact that the pad is offset mounted on the block. This allows you to really vary the length along the rails. As always, the finish is very good. Soft and breathable padding. If foam plastic is what you are using, do yourself a favor and grab this solid pad for your rig.

This shoulder pad works pretty well.It has become part of my go-to shoulder rig.The tightening screws feel a bit too loose in their loose position. They loosen up too much in my opinion. But they have not fallen off ever and I have; t lost one either. When they tighten onto the 15mm rod, they are quite tight .Its relatively light weight.The padding is sufficient for my feel. It has never slipped off.I would recommend it for hand-held camera work.The downside is that you need to plan your shoulder rig well, and insert this piece of the puzzle at the right time, in between your other parts of the rig, because it is not a clip-on type holder. It needs to go through the 15mm rods.Depending on how far under the camera or camera plate you put it, it may or may not get in the way of the tripod quick release plate.

Great Shoulder Pad for a 15mm rail system, I use mine with a fully rigged and modernized Bolex H16 16mm rig and this shoulder pad works great!!
