Amazing book - the strategies actually work!
This is an amazing book - it has been honestly life-changing for us. We have a 4 year old boy and have implemented so many of the strategies in this book and it has made such a difference in such a short period of time. His behaviour has greatly improved and as parents we find ourselves not yelling/getting upset as much - it's definitely a more peaceful and calm approach to parenting. I imagine we will be referencing and re-reading sections of this book for years to come.

Love this book, very helpful
Very helpful book. Love how it is explained and the examples provided. I already began to apply with my 12 yrs old boy. I wish I would have found this book earlier! A friend recommended and I super recommend this book too.

The best parenting boom I've read.
SUCH a brilliant book. I have two boys aged 6 and 4 and this has been a godsend in our house. A really helpful and practical tool. I bought it because my eldest was starting to suffer with anxiety at school and within weeks of implementing the advice in this book, we saw improvements in self esteem and managing emotions. I have read it cover to cover and know I will do again several times. I can't recommend enough.

If you've got boys, this book is so useful
Superb! I saw the author being interviewed on TV and was intrigued by her methods, particularly descriptive praise. I've read quite a few books on parenting boys and found them all useful to an extent but this one is just fantastic! I have a little 3 year old and he's just a typical boy, boisterous, curious, wonderful and exasperating. I felt like though I was possibly on his back all the time and wanted to develop a calmer relationship with him. Descriptive praise is when you note (out loud) the good decisions your child is making but dropping the superlatives, like fantastic, superb, well done, high five. You need to read the rationale in the book about this method, but it makes sense. The first time I used descriptive praise, my 3 year old son stopped in his tracks, gave me a quizzical look and carried on with the good behaviour. Within days, he's become so co-operative. He's happier, we're happier and I'm now explaining the process to the significant others in his life so that they can use it too. My mum was visiting our house the other day and commented on what a calm household we have! She wouldn't have said that before I read the book! I haven't even finished reading it yet but felt compelled to write this review.
