Everything Staedtler makes is a bit more expensive but never disappoints. After purchasing half a dozen compass at the local shops, I decided to get my kid a better one. This is his second year, and I am confident it will last a few years.

Very simple design. Great for my child who is in HS trigonometry. There’s a more complex Staedtler compass that we initially purchased and while all the adjustment knobs and angles were cool, the screws seemed to fall off easily, and ended up losing a knob making the whole thing less useful. This one only has two of those knobs to worry about and is just a much simpler yet sturdier mechanism.

It broke right away.Piece of garbage.

Body is plastic with 5 metal screws for adjusting. Not compatible with tasks that require measuring/precision. Cost of exceeds value in an epic way. Markings are weak and inconsistent.

The compass works well. It is easy to use, sturdy, and stays where you set it. We have tried other ones and this one is by far the best one.

This compass is much more precise and better quality in my opinion than cheaper alternatives. It is a student compass which I expect will last several years. It is more compact and easier to set than a bow compass.
