Handy for uncoupling in dark areas.
Very handy because couplers are always hard to see on N gauge rolling stock with realistic couplers. However, the tip requires slight modifications to the tip in order to get it to work with N gauge. The tip must be carefully sharpened to be usable and care must be taken to follow the exact contour of each side. Definitely not for children or the timid.

The light really helps
Nice bright blueish light helps locate the couplers. The shape at the end of the probe does not open the couplers as well as the usual wooden skewers that most people use. It does work, but it is a more tedious process than it should be. I will try a little modification to the diamond shape to see if it will work more smoothly.

Mixed success
Initially I could it hard to use, found that it works better with some couplers than others and not sure why. I watched the short video a couple times and tried to replicate on the ones where I was not having success with no improvement. The light is great, but not 100% at this point. Maybe a bit more practice, or may just not like Walthers couplers.

N scale couplers
It did not work very well with Micro Trains N scale couplers. I gently filed the tip until it consistently worked.

Worked as advertised.. I was a little surprised.
My couplers are not all the same and so far it has worked on most of them. I like the light too.

This is an expensive flash light that is not good with Kadee HO couplers...
I've had this a week now and have not been able to use it to uncouple Kadee HO couplers. I've watched the video many times and will keep trying but so far this is just an expensive flashlight for me. Didn't come with instructions or helpful tips to get this thing to work.
