Acquired taste.
This tea is definitely quite different from Davidsons Green Gunpowder tea. I really like Davidsons but decided to try something a little different.Temple of Heaven is a unique but good taste that you have to become accustomed to. Using the same machine, a Mr. Coffee 12 cup, used only for tea, I found that Temple of Heaven is quite a bit stronger than other teas, so you have to make an adjustment to how much you use. The first batch I made was overwhelmingly strong an I dialed it back quite a bit.I generally make 10 cups, as marked on the carafe, and use two infusers filled a little less than half way to allow for the expansion of the tea as it brews. It comes out at the right strength if you don't let it sit after the machine has stopped brewing. The 10 cups I make is for ice tea. So if it's a little too strong I can always add a few ice cubes.

Best green tea ever
This is a big ole hefty box of rolled loose leaf tea. The best packaged loose leaf tea I have ever purchased. The tea is inside of a bag that is inside the box which is also wrapped in cellophane when you first receive it. The tea is the deepest color of nature green, it is authentic and fresh; ready for brewing straight out of the packaging. The instructions are easy to follow I add some lime and ginseng to this and it makes the most delicious iced tea as well. You can use the tea to mix with other loose leaf teas to create your own flavor. I will absolutely purchase again.

Very poor example of Chinese green tea
On a scale of 1 to 10, this tea is a two. Quality green teas from China have very clean aroma and flavor and brew up translucent. This tea brews very cloudy because it has a lot of dust in it (floor sweepings). The tea is very “smokey” presumably because it is dried from an open fire. So you get the heavy smoke taste and potentially all of the carcinogens that may be coming from the smoke. Can’t really evaluate the green tea because the smoke taste covers it up. I lived in China for 3 years and enjoyed some great green teas. This is not one of them.

Some help for those that haven't had gunpowder or other similar green teas before
It WILL get bitter (like almost every other tea) if you don't brew it right. Make sure the water isn't boiling when you introduce it to the tea or you will get a very bitter taste. It's like this with all of these types of tea. Herbals and stuff like that you don't have to get water temp/timing right to keep it from being bitter but other teas like this one you really do.It is not a super high grade tea, but if you're buying it at 15 dollars for 2.2 lbs you really shouldn't expect it to be the stuff people pay hundreds of dollars for per pound. But for the price it is really exceptional considering. I have not had the 'twig' issue others have, but even then the twigs are just the stems and really don't hurt it that much. It's not like they shove random barks and dirt in there. If you are using this to showcase your 'exceptional' and 'expensive' tea collection then you are doing it wrong! But it is VERY good for the price and if you brew it right it is not even that much further down the line when compared to most easily obtained gunpowder teas.I bought this for making milk tea/boba tea etc. If you add ANY other ingredient like lemon, milk, sugar etc why on earth would you spend tons of money if you're altering the flavors anyway. If you're using it for iced it's the same thing as well. Seriously unless you're having tea sampling contests or have super finicky tea snobs around you really won't find a need to buy the 'oh my god so expensive' types of tea. This tea will suit your normal every day tea needs just fine. Buy an expensive gunpowder for your teaparties, but if you're having a mug at home or are making iced or adding ANYTHING to it seriously consider this tea. There is NO NEED to spend tons of money on a tea when this will do just fine.Seriously, it's 15 bucks for 2.2 lbs and doesn't taste like crap, it's not that far off from most other gunpowders. Also some of the other people were talking about using coffee makers and other things for making it, if you do that just be prepared for bitterness as usually coffee makers run too hot for green teas. Also one review was knocking it because they never had gunpowder before and said they hated it- probably they just don't like gunpowder tea. It's kind of different. But yeah, this brand is perfect for everyday normal use. Don't be that person that buys a 10 dollar bottle of wine then slams it in reviews because it's not like that 400 dollar bottle you had. But it is a damn fine 10 dollar bottle of wine.

Excellent Taste - Great Price
We drink a lot of iced tea, this tea is excellent. It comes by the Kilo or 2.2 pounds of tea compared to the other brands that charge the same for 1 pound of tea.I suggest dumping the tea into an airtight container (they have a lot of cute ones available here on Amazon) or placing the entire box in an extra large zip lock bag.Brews wonderful we do 1/2 cup of gunpowder and 1/2 cup of strawberry tea using a quart mason jar. Let brew for a few hours than pour into a gallon jug and add 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 blue agave sweetener, squeeze a lemon or 2 in chill and enjoy the most amazing tea.

Does not get bitter properly prepared
Review for: Temple of Heaven China Green Tea Special Gunpowder 1 Kilo Guaranteed Authenticity,The first thing you notice on opening the package it the Aroma, it smells wonderful. The second thing your notice is the unique and uniform cut, almost like little balls. I make this 8 cups at a time in an insulated pot. The first time I made it, I used two full tea balls, it made a very strong tea. I now make it with a half a teaball, and it is still plenty strong. One of the things I noticed is the tea, even very strong is not bitter, does not seem to get bitter even with extended steeping (I do not remove the teaball from the pot until I finish the pot, I know you can not do this with most green teas as they do get bitter) I highly recommend this product, it is a superior green tea. Tea is fresh and flavorful.
