Can the ring volume be adjusted?

No the ring volume cannot be adjusted. The chime is a single “ding”. The volume is average not loud.

Does this work with a ring doorbell? My current one does not and I’m seeking a replacement.

Which Ring Doorbell? I have this on my wall, and the RVD1 does work with it, so the RVD2 should as well (they both require 8-24 VAC (40VA max)). The RVD Pro may not, since it requires 16-24 VAC 30VA (40VA max). I currently have the RVD1 and it works, but the battery slowly loses charge, so higher VAC/VA would help that. I just bought the RVD Pro and I am concerned it won't run well with this, so I am also buying a 24V 40VA transformer in hopes of replacing the transformer in this box with the new one. No, it doesn't get hot. It only operates when someone presses the door bell button which isn't long enough for the solenoid coil to get hot. It works fine when wired correctly using the right transformer. To be a complefe system, you need to add a transformer, button, and wire.
